    Well I just called NTL using option 5 like cardiffkjk suggested and the guy on the phone simply refused to give me any deal. He told me his manager had explicitely told the team not to give any special offer to existing customers; he even mentioned he could be in trouble for giving it to me etc.
    Repeatedly telling him that I've been a loyal customer for quite some time with TV, telephone and the most expensive broadband package didn't seem to help :(

    Phone back and ask to be put through to cancellations, they will ask why. Just say that you have seen that Sky are giving free Sports until next year yet NTL are not prepared to do anything for you. If you get the gentleman mentioned above then just stick firm and ask to be put through to cancellations again. When you get through they will ask why and will offer you it.

    Most of the time it is the luck of the draw who answers the phone.
  • Thank you for this tip. I called NTL today as a customer of over 5 years and asked for any discounts. I currently have the package with family pack + Sky sports and movies. I was able to negoiate sky sports for free for 12 months and sky movies for £8 a month. Saving of £180 for the year!

    Can I just point out to all NTL users that many MSE users have recently negotiated great deals with NTL on their bb and phone packages by phoning armed with prices from other providers and threatening to leave.

    Threads in Home Phones and Internet boards ;)

    Should be fine on the weekend i would of thought.

    I rang 0800 0520243 which is customer retentions/disconnections.

    Just be polite and explain your not getting value for money as a loyal customer and ask if they can do a deal for you to compensate for the 'new customers only' offer of 12mnt free sky sports.

    If they dont bite just put a little more pressure on and change your tone of voice.

    Dont go in with the attitude to cancel, because sometimes i bet you'll just get a call handler who doesn't care and go 'ok then' :rotfl:

    Ill have a read of those threads. I've just got discount on the tv package do you think i could also try it on the phone and bb without them going 'err you've just had a discount for your telly!!'

    Thursday 4th
    We had the £10.50 telephone and the £17.99 broadband from NTL and i saw the deal for free Sky Sports for a year. We were on Sky for our television.
    We rang the customer services number 0800 052 2000 and asked if we could have the family pack and the free Sky Sports. We was told we could have it and was given the sales number to ring.
    Sales said no, so we rang the customer services again. They spoke to sales for us and this time they both said no. We argued the point that they look after new customers better than their existing ones and that new customers always get better deals, then suddenly the phone went dead.
    We rang customer services again (now speaking to a third customer services person) who rang sales on our behalf because she didnt see why we couldnt have the Sky Sports. Sales this time agreed for us to have the free Sky Sports with the family pack but we did have to change our phone package to the free evening and weekend local calls package which is £12.50 a month (well worth it) (wow £2 extra but now we have free calls).
    Friday 5th
    Engineer arrives and installs the NTL cable TV with our FREE Sky Sports for a year....................Result !!!
