Hey SS there is a party going on on DFW it needs some good looking men in there. You have to bring a bottle though! Hope to see you there later. But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0

Hi SS, you post really good advice and support on the DFW board....had no idea you were 27
.
My advice would be.....Step 1 2 3......
1; Debt 0
2; Save like crazy.
3 Give yourself a deadline of 12 months, say, to see how much you have stashed.........you could promote yourself to the SAVINGS (yaaayyyy!!!) board (this will feel like a kind of promotion to me when I move on to there:D )
3; get a mortgage offer and hunt for first home.
Means having to stay at home for a while but you say it's free (pretty much?) so that's the trade off yes?
Or you could do a houseshare for a while if you want "privacy" but all you'll do is swap co-habiting with parents for strangers (and it'll cost you too).
Hope this is helpful...wanted to reciprocate as you have posted extremely helpful things on DFW board, that I have benefitted from....but you never knew.
My biggest tip is DON'T rush into homeowning. Trust me.0 -

Damn! Foiled again!
But I will have my own princess pad here, not a stinky boy pit so I'm not really after your money (and you have it on your sig, silly!).
But local search fees vary between local authorities, so it will make the quote a bit more accurate.
My answers may go downhill from here on in. I am on the booze. :beer:0 -

Let me guess. You thought I was about 40 aswell! :rotfl:
Thanks fc for the kind words.
See this is my dilemma. Everyone says stay at home and save and I know it's good advice and I would say the same to others.
But
I feel like I've put the last 2 and half years of my life on hold to pay off my debt (my fault I know) and I don't want to put it on hold any longer. Now if that means paying more in the longer then I'm happy to do that.
Whatever I decide I know I'll move out. It's just whether it's renting or buying! :undecided0 -

you need to weigh up the travel costs with moving further afield tho.
as an example, ticket from say the heathway to central london is about £1200 a year...move up the A13 to say thurrock and i'm fairly sure its more like £2500. another £100 a month or another £20,000 on a mortgage.
have you thought about part buy part rent?0
