bread machine owners...do they make you fat?

My bread machine hasn't made me fat! I make my bread during the evenings, usually after I've eaten. Then, when it's ready, I'm quite full, and about ready for bed..I may manage ONE slice as soon as it's cooled. But the next morning I freeze the rest, in slices, so it's out of harms (and "smells") way. Then one loaf lasts me a week (just me) for toast and sandwiches. I too, find that one slice for toast is as filling as two shop bought ones.
I have changed to butter instead of margarine too, because it's more natural, and that doesn't seem to have made me put on weight, either. I guess lugging the shopping up the hill every week counter-balances some of this!0 -
Dammam wrote:We use our bread maker every couple of months. The only problem I have with it is that the bread doesn't "keep" for long i.e it's stale by next morning.
I know that this is the price for not having horrible additives in it, but does anyone have a way of getting the bread to last more than a day?
Mine lasts for about 4 days
I put mine when it has cooled in a air-tight plastic food bag (very large!) and seal it with a clippit. It last just fine, even better than some shop bought bread

Can you make jam with a Panasonic SD 253, I noticed that someone said they could make jam with their breadmaker?0

Ok girls! I've been resisting the temptation to buy a BM (thinking it'll be another gadget that ends up in the back of the cupboard)...but....you make HM bread sound soooo yummy that I'm seriously considering getting one. Any recommendations on a machine for a newbie?

I'm not about to recommend one 'cos I'm biased
but if you were to search on "breadmaker" you'll find plenty of threads about these animals and would, after reading a thousand posts or so, come to realise that there are two main contenders according to OS...
..they are the Morphy Richards (fastbake) and the Panasonic SD252 or 253
But I'm afraid I can't tell you this because I'm biased
