What a great thread AT! I'm going to go and get a breadmaker now, I've been thinking about it recently cos local supermarket bread is so crap and even when fresh just isn't good enough, also I know it isn't a patch on home made and I wish I had some here right now to get my mouth round oozing with marg and fresh jam or just on it's own... I'll have to leave this thread, I'm overcome it's all too much. :rotfl:Torgwen..........

A big fat Yes from me!!! I have not been able to bake a loaf without eating the whole thing within 30 minutes of it coming out, with heaps of butter!!!!

I've banished it to the back of the cupboard!!Only 5% of those who can give blood, actually do!

Since doing all this OS lark i've actually lost over a stone - I think I'm for more active with all the cooking and cleaning and popping into more than one shop to take advantage of the offers.
I've always been a bread eater - one of my passions in life. Since using my breadmaker everyday I've noticed that one slice of toast is just as filling as the 2 thin piddly slices of papp you get from the shops, hence I'm probably eating less bread but it's better for me.
I've actually got to the point where I don't have anything that fits anymore - every pair of trousers I own will now go over the hips without even undoing - not that I'm complaining but do I really need the expence of buying new stuff!!!!!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. This is what scares me, I'm afraid that we will just pork out on all the bread, I only bake cakes now if there are likely to be a few people around to eat them. Maybe it would be different if I had a hoard of hungry children but everyone in our house seems to be watching what they eat for one reason or another.
I might have to think again about my potential Christmas pressie0 -
Almost anything will make you fat if you eat too much of it.We have a loaf a day which is just enough for sandwiches for 4 (3 slices each) and a few end bits for toast. When I bought shop bread,I had to buy really cheap pap and we got through about 7 loaves a week, someone was nearly always having toast in the evening to fill themselves up too and ofcourse had to have marge and marmalade or melted cheese on it .0

Not wanting to hijack your thread, but could you please tell me how you do that? I have a kenwood and no room for a breadmaker but would love to make my own bread. I had a bread maker but gave it to a friend as I don't have the space but miss it loads.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
You will need to buy a dough hook, there is probably a kenwood website that you can order one from.
The dough mixes in around 4 minutes with no elbow grease at all, if you are using the fast action yeast then you shape the bread straight away, either into tins, rolls or whatever.0 -
That's amazing! Thanks.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

My kenwood book has instructions for white bread just using the knife blade if you're keen to get started without the dough hook?Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I may actually pop with excitement! Don't have the instructions any more but shouldn't be hard to track down. And I fully expect to gain a few extra pounds with the pizzas and bread I'm about to make!May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0
