I have been looking at these as i would love to get one. With 3 children might save alot of money if we have a warm summer

Which does anyone think would be best ? One the panasonic that works by battery or the russel hobbs one ? Am i right in thinking they both need to fit in the freezer, but the battery one works/ mixes whilst in the freezer ?

According to Amazon, you do NOT need to freeze the bowl of the Panasonic one beforehand as it mixes whilst IN the freezer.
I looked on Ciao.co.uk and someone in their review said the size of the maker was 13cm high by 17cm diameter so I measured my freezer to ensure it will fit!

  • I have the Gaggia Gelataria ...

    Just thought I'd mention ....

    But I don't have ...

    A blender
    A microwave
    A slow cooker (well ... I have an Aga!! :j )
    A juicer
    A deep-fat fryer

The only thing on my worksurface is a Magimix food-processor ... the ice-cream maker is out in the utility room :j

I definitlely use mine, same one as yours ^ it was a wedding present and the most used one of the lot apart from a roasting tin! I use it at least 2 times a month. Last thing we did was a 'cheat' in homage to Delia - a tin of evaporated milk and a pack of strawberry instant whip. She can kiss my cheatin' ice cream derrière - it was delicious! Tasted like a reappy expensive creamy strawberry ice cream.
The one before that was a balieys one. Warning you do not need much baileys

Too much alcohol or sugar will prevent the mix freezing! My Rum and Raisin is world renowned!

    I've never had a juicer, a slow cooker or a deep-fat fryer.

Microwave is built in, to save counter space. As far as the counter is concerned.. left to right at the mo, slicer, Food proc, blender, yogt maker, bread maker. Then the hob. to the RHS of the hob, kettle, toaster, coffee maker. I used to keep stuff 'away' but use it lots more now it's out. Trying to discipline myself to rinse stuff as soon as it is used, if it needs washing it will be a lot quicker if nothing is stuck on. I think when I get the ice cream maker it will have to go in the utility room. On top of the TD. This hasn't been used since I got the room, as I now have a pull up airer. It's brilliant.

I bought a Philips one from Lakeland in the Bargin Basement section - don't mind the mixing up part. I get mesmerised watching it. I found another one to take away with me - keeps my GD occupied for ages.

Got to try the sorbet recipies next.
Only prob - the waisteline has expanded

Does anyone know how to get a really light ice cream like you'd get from Mr Whippy with a flake in?
