I've got the Magimix Le Glacier something or other and it's USELESS!!!
1) It's a bowl in the freezer job - I've got an upright and no space.
2) It's motor's very weak and the blades get bunged up leaving crystally ice cream
3) The recipes included are fiddly and time consuming.
MIL bought it for DH about 3 years ago and if it's been used 2 / 3 times since that's all it's been. Total waste of money IMHO - even though DH is an icecream fiend.I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle0 -
I got mine from the charity shop. I think its called a Phillips Delicia or something like that. Used two times. Mainly due to expanding waistline. The bowl is in freezer all the time. Will get it out for the summer. It worked beautifully though. £6 it cost me, and I think retails for £39.99.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Wow, amazed at how many replies in an hour. Seems like a good idea to get one but I don't have a chest freezer only a large upright one. Presume the bowl is not too big to sit in one of the drawers?
The Magimix 1.5 is too big for the drawers in my freezer (which are 19cm) apart from one deep drawer which is 25cm where it fits happily.
Re diet issue :You can do a great speedy low cal ice using supermarket fresh custard (I use Waitrose low cal one) and half fat creme fraiche + vanilla essence.
Re recipes: Lots of good ones in 'Ben & Jerry's Homemade Ice Cream & Dessert Book' - 90 in all, if you don't mind doing some US conversions0 -
I bought mine last summer and used it regularly, it's a Kenwood, 1 litre I think. I took the bowl out of the freezer when I neede the space in the Autumn and haven't put it back in, but I will do when it warms up. My OH is an icecream addict and can eat a whole batch in one go!!!!!!

I've got the Magimix Le Glacier 1.1. I got the smaller one as it was just me and DD. During the summer I just keep the bowl in the freezer. We tend to be a bit boring and just make strawberry ice cream. My Dad bought DD some posh ice cream when she wasnt well. DD said Mum, its just like your ice cream!!!0

I definitlely use mine, same one as yours ^ it was a wedding present and the most used one of the lot apart from a roasting tin! I use it at least 2 times a month. Last thing we did was a 'cheat' in homage to Delia - a tin of evaporated milk and a pack of strawberry instant whip. She can kiss my cheatin' ice cream derrière - it was delicious! Tasted like a reappy expensive creamy strawberry ice cream.
The one before that was a balieys one. Warning you do not need much baileys :eek:Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

I have been looking at these as i would love to get one. With 3 children might save alot of money if we have a warm summer
Which does anyone think would be best ? One the panasonic that works by battery or the russel hobbs one ? Am i right in thinking they both need to fit in the freezer, but the battery one works/ mixes whilst in the freezer ?furrypig says:my name is Choccy and I am addicted to nose free stamps as I want to save them all and give them noses!!!:rotfl:
About me. Im Choccy or Chocolate orange depending on where i am.Yes occasionally i am a total looon who spends too long online, but no where near as much £ as her spendy elves do ..:D0 -
Nope you freeze the bowl then mix on the worktop. I suggest putting a teatowel underneath especially if like me you have wooden worktops - bit of condensation underneath!
The ones which do it all including the freezing are AFAIK prohibitively expensive, well they are for me anyway;)Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
