Where we are we frequently get power cuts and the phones cut out, so a mobile is a given, and yes you all say about PAYG but there is nothing worse than not having credit to make that important call, with our current setup we can make as many calls as needed and not have to worry about credit or anything stupid, also i hate PAYG.

To all the nice people who actually can see that we are real and honest people and not trying to be nasty or not take advice thankyou, your support is really apprecicated.

I hope that has alleviated your "confusion" or should i call it unapreciated sarcasm.Digital

    Hi Digitalsgirl_Hubby,

It's sad to hear you're terming a lot of the help and advice given as us being either confused or sarcastic, but we are all simply trying to help you both in the only ways we know how from your SOA. We all help many people on the DFW boards and they are all so very appreciative of it and take note to get their finances back in order.

I can't help but look at the mobile situation and it shout out to me that it's costing you so very much. At the least isn't it at all possible that you share one between you and save £40 pm? You may hate PAYG, but surely if it gives you more money to use on things you're desperate for then it would be more important to help take the stress from your dear wife and in so doing alleviate her depression.

BTW, no one believes you to be dishonest or trying to be nasty, not to my mind anyway, it's us being desperate to want to help you both that just may come over as being pushy perhaps; that too is trying to help and emphasise the importance of changes we see you needing to make. However, no one can force you to do anything, but please don't misconstrue help as being nasty or sarcastic.

I sincerely hope your wife is soon able to relax and get free from money problems stress and depression and that you are soon free from your health problems, do try to sort them out, it will all help her and will certainly help you

    Sue

Edit. Have just noticed that your wife is going to look into cheaper O2 phone deals, good luck!

  • Hi

See you have had lots of advice re financial stuff. Wondered about either or both of you applying for DLA? If getting around is a problem due to knees would qualify for help and maybe even help with costs of car? also hearing loss - sounds like u are moderate/profoundly deaf now,and could also claim for help in regards to this. Appart from hearing aids have you had any help from social work/charities for equipment to help? alerting devices/special phones etc? Can help with any info regarding this.

    Hi MiniLauraRocks

Im not sure where i would stand with DLA, i have asked my doctor about it and they had no idea at all, which i thought was very helpful.

Im still waiting on a decision about hearing aids, they have done cat scans etc and know there is a problem but nobody seems to want to make a decision on how is best to treat me, i would simply love to be able to hear....Dont really care how, be it an operation to have a hearing air hardwired into my mastoid or whatever not bothered, it just gets so annoying having to permenantly ask someone to repeat something so i can read their lips etc, although some of the mistaken things i think i hear can be very funny.

Any advice on this side of things would be great as i to be honest have no idea, i even looked at trying to find a cheap hearing aid alternative on ebay but they all are either rubbish or expensive.

    Thanks

    Tony
  • Right, just thought i would share with you all what happened this past week!;)
We had a really tight month, to try and gain control (even more tight than normal, i.e living on tined soup!):p

and we struggled so that we could pay off three debts :jthat had been around the longest (since being in this house) that where affordable amounts (as in not worth taking to court)
£35 since canceling my husbands insurance 3 months ago
£15 council tax (before benefits kicked in) October
£70 Electric bill (from before we switched) October

we worked out that we would just have enough, plus some for food, before saving again for next DD's and rent day

I was actually really excited by paying these off!:o

1st stop post office to pay council tax.......:D
    card was rejected by bank:eek:
We knew we had the money so why????

    BT strikes again:mad:

Since we moved in, they have been a nightmare....actually they have always been a nightmare:rolleyes:
    but more so since moving
They argued and argued that we did not have a line, which we did, then they said they needed to charge the £150 to reconnect as the people here before us moved phone companies, (so much for welcoming customers back!) any way, they took £158 back in November when they shouldn't have, we complained, were told to reverse the DD at the bank, but then 3 wks later they paid us the money back by TT!
we phoned told them....they said they hadnt!
3 months later and we get a bill for £310:eek:
They have now decided they did TT the money plus want more!
On the bill it said they would take the money ON the 4th OR AFTER the 4th of march, so we where working things out, and going to reset up the £30 a month DD, to be paying it off.....
except they decided to have it today, or rather they requested it from the bank Saturday!
This meant we were over our over draft (on a account which doesnt allow overdrafts) we couldnt buy food or pay the bills i had got so excited about.

my husband phoned them and got a tad upset! they now want us to put it in writing why we are complaining and why we think they should give it back, which of course we where told, would take three weeks to get a acknowledgment from.
    aaaaaarrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh:mad:

I am still going to try and pay the debts but i will need to wait till nxt week and go without more:( to do it.

  • Hey again,
I know it sounds daft but it worked for my dad...and if it works it cant be too bad. My dad has Tinitus and so has to have hearing aids for both ears. The Dr's were giving him the run around so he wrote to the local MP about how indecisive his Dr was and general NHS being slow and that by the time they give him the treatment he may well be 6ft under etc.. my dad is very blunt. Any way 3 weeks later Dr gets him an appointment with a specialist to get the hearing aids fitted. You may as well give the MP a long list of what the NHS has failed to do to date :D

If you dont ask you dont find out, imho.

The BT DD reclaim it through your bank using an indemnity claim, as they are in breach of the DD guarantee! I also hate BT but thats another story :D

  • HI ticklepenny!
Well the flavor that is most popular when sold is strawberry,
which i have to say is gorgeous!, i am not a big strawberry lover, but in the frozen yogurt is a subtle flavor and refreshing,
I dont like ice cream, my self but will quite happily eat a tub of frozen yogurt!
My mum got a yogurt maker a few months ago (her latest fad after watching the shopping channel!)
and she supplied me with tubs for a while! One flavor that really surprised me (for normal yogurt) was lemon
    It was lovely

The good thing too, if you are temped by ice cream normally, is that frozen yogurt is the health alternative!
how often does that happen...nice and good for you!

  • Hi

See you have had lots of advice re financial stuff. Wondered about either or both of you applying for DLA?

Hi Thanks, my mum was on about this to me again today!
since the little embarrassing episode at the doctors yesterday and them getting the emergency crisis team involved.....i feel i right cuckoo short of a clock..i tell you:o!
Any way my doctor (and mother!) wanted me to get DLA awhile back, but 1st i was dealing with divorce/breakdown n.o uno !
then housing benefit, then after a while on my own, ticking along, Tonys, ssp, benefits, i was always afraid to try and claim and rock the boat, i suppose.... I have had bad experiences with benefits! I dont know how people defraud the system, it is hard enough to claim and prove entitlement to, when you are entitled!
I think i will try though
I had to do a form a few months back, as they wanted to know since tony is getting benefit why i wasnt working, it was one i had to take to the doctor, anyway he had a field day doing the form, bet they didnt aspect an essay!

I was going to try and claim for something, as i tend to go everywhere with hubby dearest, as his ears! He needs me to listen and answer, but i really dont know what is best, as i know with "carers" benefit you lose a different part of another benefit, which i think the job center people worked out as then making us worse of as it would rule us out for full help with council tax, more or less the normal of them giving with one hand and taking more back with the other!
