I got a cast off from one of the grandmothers/great aunts when we got our own home , then a new one at some stage, but just got a new one last week. It's magnificent, the largest size I could get. I sew for a living so fantastic. Today I got a new good quality sleeve board for sewing as I couldn't find the old one. I'm trying to press a silk jacket in construction and can't manage without it."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Mine is over 20 years and still has the original cover. I bought it really cheap in Lakeland as it had a wonky leg, which was fine in our old house as I could balance it on the join between the lino and carpet and it was perfect. Not so good here, but I'm used to it now0

Mine was a wedding present in 1972, but it has had numerous different covers over the years. It weighs a ton and I keep promising myself a new one but never get round to it."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Mine was a wedding present too, in 1966, and a sturdy metal one (can't remember now which make) but it's certainly stood the test of time. I confess, since lockdown and the Coronavirus pandemic started I've virtually abandoned ironing. Clothes are just dried and folded, and since we're wearing casuals all the time and nobody visits to see what we look, the iron has been retired !0

I don’t iron – it’s against my core beliefs 😂 I had to give up when I was diagnosed with CRP in my shoulder. I needed morphine to turn over in bed! It took six months to resolve itself and in that time I trained all the children to shake, hang and fold their clothes with no creases 😃
I have two steamers which I could use for hanging garments - A little hand travel one and my large one which I use to steam clean and disinfect coats etc
The only time I miss an ironing board is if I’m doing any sewing 🧵0 -
Mine is well over 40 years old, still going strong but I hate it, it bit my finger the other day when I was trying to fold it down.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0

Ironing board? What's one of those then?
On the incredibly rare occasion I need to iron, I put a towel on the dressing table.
