I bought one about 7 years ago but dumped it about 2 years ago as it was poor quality. The one I use know was DH's when we got married but looks pretty old- I had stopped ironing for a while, and only now iron essentials (back problem) but would like a new iron and board as these ones are not the best!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Does anyone know how to recognise an asbestos iron plate? I just picked up an old ironing board on Freegle, but now I am worried it might be asbestos. It looks like a white sheet, that is just held in place by metal clips.

Mine is over 15 years old but has the cover replaced a couple of times. OH wants to replace it as its one of the very few things remaining from my first marraige!!0

Think mine came with me from my old house so at least 8 years, in fact I can't remeber buying another so possibly 14 years in total, that could be why this morning I notice that the metal bar the attaches the legs has come away on one side.0

Mine belonged to my Mum who passed in 2002, she hadn't done any ironing for a long time before that so I guess it's over 15 years old. It's nice and solid, Mum NEVER bought cheap, unlike me!0

Forty six years old and I have today given it to the scrap man along with my old washing machine. I am so sorry to see it go, nothing really wrong with mechanism just got rusty on surface. It had large surface and I struggled to get covers for it, it had adjustable height and as I am tall its top height suited me great. I am just working my way online to find a replacement and am shocked at the price and reviews. Do you think I could get the scrap man to bring my old one back?:D0
