Any Tesco 'Clubcard deals' I should avoid?

Thanks Withabix, yes, I understand now. I will have another look tonight, it was hard to judge as it would only give me World Traveller prices and because I did not have 'points' in the bank I could only proceed so far, then i had to go and check the distances instead.
The other thing of course is that I have 2 children, one of 4 and one of 5 - my 4 year old is AS, I am pretty sure that no-one would be impressed to have him travelling in anything other than Economy anyway tbh as he is too hyper and would be chatting to everyone and making too much noise and people pay thoughsands to get away from the noisy kids. I am sure there is an over 14 years limit on Upper or whatever it is anyway. I have to think of things like this as well which is why Ecomony has always been better for us but I understand totally what you are getting at now, I did not before. Thanks.0 -
Is anyone aware that as from the middle of February 2008, Haven have excluded four of their most popular parks from the Tesco clubcard deal. Rockley Park, Burnham on sea, Devon Cliffs and Perran Sands no longer accept them against either new or existing bookings. We have used them for last 5 years to pay for 3 week holiday with Haven during the summer holidays and although we booked a year before as usual and paid cash deposit we can not now use the vouchers to pay for it. The new rules are hidden deep in the small print on Haven and Tesco terms and conditions which if you have booked this way before you probably won't read. This is entirely a Haven decision and has been taken because they get too many clubcard bookings at those sites.0

Well how mean is that! Fortunately we booked our hols at Burnham last September and paid for it in full with our vouchers. I wonder if there is more of this to come??0 -
I wouldn't say it was mean!
If those parks are popular and they can rent out all of the caravans at full price they make more profit. It's a no brainer turning away full paying customers to take Tesco Clubcard bookings. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Also, some of the van are privately owned and the people who own them might not want them in the 'deals' option as they would not get full price for them.
I would say that maybe there is a 50/50 split on the price in that say a holiday was £600 in deals Tesco would pay £300 to haven. Last year we booked Butlins for a 4 days stay, £600, yet on the Internet a day before we went the same holiday was up for £280. So the holiday company is not losing anything!!! Same with the overseas holidays.0 -
Hi,
I would say without a doubt as far as family savings are concerned the best deal by far is the merlin annual pass, which costs £27.50 pp in tesco vouchers and gives unlimited access to Alton Towers,Thorpe Park,Chessington,Warwick Castle,Madame Tussauds and now the London Eye,Legoland,The Dungeons and Sealife Centres for a whole year!Bargain!Save up every year for these and more than get my moneys worth,am going to Alton Towers for Easter along with £19 Travelodge room, couldn't be a better weekend for the kids!
Also annual pass gives you 20% off food and at Alton Towers you are allowed in 1 hour before the general public and get free parking(which I think you should get anyway).
This is a genuine saving for clubcard,as you know a family of 4 can spend at least £50 per go at any of these attractions, this is no1 for me!

We gave £240 of Goldsmiths vouchers to our Mums thinking they would have a wonderful time choosing their jewellery.
The first Mum saw a Citrine ring she liked. They didn't have it in stock. Took 6 weeks to get it. When it arrived it was a topaz. Took 4 weeks to get the right ring. She went in to collect it and they couldn't find it. Finally found it and said the manager would phone to appologise. Didn't phone.
The second Mum ordered a handmade simple rubover/bezel set Garnet ring. they quoted £160. She went in last week with the vouchers wearing her old coat (not that it should matter). She went to pay and was told the ring would cost £500 to £900 and that perhaps she should shop elsewhere.
I am livid. I have emailed to complain and don't know what else I can do.
Merlin vouchers have been great.Think of happiness as a kind of mental gardening.0 -

Hi,
£27.50 in vouchers is 2,750 points, which is roughly £2,750 spend.
My hubby and I have a tesco credit card each which bumps up our points from everyday speding.Hope this helps.0 -
