I also agree that if you use CC Vouchers it is not costing you anything - unless you are topping up with cash and if this is the case it migh pay to shopping around and getting a better price rather than topping up.

Have to agree with the people that have pointed out that CC vouchers are free in the first place. In all fairness, what you bought from Tesco to get those points was probably the cheapest you could hope to buy what you wanted for in the first place. So to then get extras free is nothing to scoff at.

I was really pleased to note the bit about the holidays though as I always book online. I found the same thing with Sun holidays recently - I saved just £2 by saving up all the tokens than if I'd just booked with Havens online in the first place! It's still worth using clubcard vouchers if you can cover all of the holiday though, even if it means paying a premium for booking by post - you're still getting a free holiday aren't you? It just appears as though it's only worth doing if you can cover beyond the offline premium which is very helpful to know.

I personally get the best value by using them for theme park tickets. I've cashed in three offers for this year: Legoland, Chessington World of Adventurs and Adventure Island. Coupled with Travelodge Supersaver rooms at £9 and £19 each - we're laughing this year for fun trips out!

There are GOOD ways to spend BA Miles and there are BAD ways to spend them:

    For example:

A Dream Trip: A BA First Class return from Heathrow to Vancouver typically costs between £5500 and £7800 cash (inc taxes/charges).

The same return ticket can be had for 150000 BA Miles or £625 of Clubcard Vouchers, plus £247 taxes/charges

An Economy Trip: The same trip in Economy costs between £820 and £1550 cash (inc taxes/charges) or £208 in Clubcard Vouchers + £247 taxes/charges.

You should compare the BA Miles 'price' with the highest cash price, as the BA Miles ticket is FULLY FLEXIBLE. If you change your mind and cancel, you get your miles and money back. With the cheap 'cash' ticket, you cancel and you get nothing back.

We recently spent £540 taxes/charges and 125000 BA Miles (£521 Clubcard Vouchers) on a combination of BA flights which would have cost us over £4000 when we booked them or £7100 if we booked them today

We've had loads of days out, most recently Cadbury World, various theme parks and several attractions in Blackpool

Going to West Midland safari park and Black Country museum soon (also staying in a travel lodge via Quidco)

As a family of 5, these deals are not to be sniffed at :j :j

Thanks withabix, did not know about this so I'll look into it. I've been saving them in the hope our personal life gets settled and we can finally go off to florida so this is handy to know too.

Yes, I agree about the days out, before I started saving them for aholiday that is what we used them for and used to book cheap bargain breaks and use the free vouchers for days out.

I have to disagree about buying cheapest stuff to get them though, I am not soeone who has done this, I used to buy my groceries with the extra points and wine for presents, floers for mothers day and birthdays, not the cheapest but it gave extra points and it meant Tesco got all of our business. they have stopped the extra points so they don't get so much of our business these days. It was just a nice 'extra' in that we had bought everything from Tesco really but it does pay to shop around.

    Hi withabix,

I signed up and I need 50,000 points to get one ticket to Florida and I still have to pay taxes. So, 50,000 points/600 for each 2.50 voucher = 83 x £2.50 vouchers = £208 worth of vouchers. This is to travel economy class.

For the same destination and same date with Virgin Holidays on Fly Drive I can get the same tcket - including taxes, for £97.50 in deals vouchers (converted into just short of £400).

Ooh, LOL, my brian hurts now so it is time for bed. But just to say if you have loads of vouchers then i guess it need not matter either way but we would have to top up with cash so Virgin still comes out at the bet option.

Thanks for the info though, I am a member now so maybe I'l get some special offers through :)

Hello, We have just cashed ours in for a 10 night stay in lake garda with Siblu holidays. We saved about £60 in vouchers over the year which converts to £240, we just had to pay a £25 deposit on debit card. We then booked a cheap flight through ryan air and plan to get the train fron the airport to the resort.

We are a young couple and paln to do lots of day trips whilst there to Milan, venice, verona etc, but it seems perfect for families too as its simialr to Haven / Butlins etc.

All in all the holiday has cost us about £70 each, not bad considering crystal are offering the same site accomodation and flights for £450 + per person.

Like I said, there are GOOD ways to use BA Miles and there are BAD ways.

Economy tickets are generally a BAD way.

You have to remember that you aren't comparing like for like. The BA ticket would be cancellable for full refund right up until the day you fly and similarly could be changed for another date as well. Your Virgin one would lose the lot.

Exchange BA miles for WT+, Business or First and you could save thousands and thousands of pounds per flight.

I've often pondered on who makes up the 'shortfall' when you use vouchers, for example I've just paid £145 worth of vouchers for a £600 holiday; do Pontins lose out or do Tescos actually pay the companies?

The same with Sun holidays, do the Sun 'buy' the deals and pass them on to readers, or do the holiday camps just offer cheap hols to fill the spaces up?

I'm sure none of the companies involved are simply being benevolent!!!

    Any ideas / theories?
