The only downside is if you have, for example, £200sworth of Mariott voucter but only spend £180 on the stay, you dont get the £20 back in any form. So, before you convert your points to vouchers see how much a weekend will cost you so you dont get too many.
Also, have a look on the Mariott website and see what the best deal you can get is. I believe the Mariott vouchers are only payable on the Stay For Breakfast rates (which are usually quite good anyway). Get the rates from the website and make sure its the same ones they quote you when you phone with the booking (you must book via phone with the vouchers you cant do via the Mariott website.
Thanks for the info, Well I had a look at the details and you need to stay for two nights ( such a shame!:j ) but we wont have enough vouchers to cover the whole stay so wont have to worry about change, but cheers for the heads up.
Now just have to wait for November to roll round.JeremyMarried 9th May 20090 -
I must admit I welcomed the news that the Open University began accepting Tesco tokens in payment for their courses......this has 'saved' me a fortune.
To be honest as for buying stuff to get the extra points....I consider this pointless (pardon the pun!) unless the product is something that I know I will use and not use in excess because I've bought extra of it (if that makes sense)2014 Target;

Hi,
£27.50 in vouchers is 2,750 points, which is roughly £2,750 spend.
My hubby and I have a tesco credit card each which bumps up our points from everyday speding.Hope this helps.
Not if you buy loads of baby talk at 100points each and magnetic photoframes for 99p and get 200 points a time! thats what I did, its the only way i could manage to get enough points to get three merlin passes. got about 45,000 points in the end of the last quatre!!:money:exercise that booty!0 -
Yep - I would agree with people above, If you want the best deal don't go with holidays. As you got to pay the 'list price' most often you get a better deal with money rather than vounchers. Hotel nights are the same so when you check the companies websites they are not the price you will pay if you want to use vouchers.
We use ours for- Alton Towers
- Magazine subscriptions (NB renewal after one year is cheaper with money rather than vouchers)
- RAC membership
- Car service and MOT with nationwide( NB you got to tell them beforehand you are paying with vouchers. When I got ours in post, the tesco leaflet said that you simply use them to payment and when I did got a angry people stating that I should have told them before - what difference does it make- it's the same service, I wonder)
- memberships with organisations
- Blockbuster (but again you would get better value with money, we just think that well it's kinda free and without vouchers would not get rentals out so often)

I can totally Understand your concern. This very morning I have been on the phone trying to book a holiday for myself & 5year old son & also my 70 Year old mother to France through Siblu (Haven in France). I thought I would take advantage of the Ryanair cheap flights that are currently available & also use my Tesco Clubcard Deals I have been saving for some time-£265 WORTH!!!
Online through Siblus website the price for the booking was £497 (-6% back through Quidco). So I phoned Siblu Direct & found out the cost of exactly the same no of days & the same mobile home only to be told that the price was £582 if paying by card!! But when I mentioned the Tesco's Clubcard Deals the price went up to £685!!!! This is a total Con & like wise have already phoned Tesco's to complain. I am now putting it in writing. What is the point of saving up the vouchers only to be ripped off yet again!!
Come on Tesco you can do better than that!!!Yes!!!
I'm really peed off this morning:mad:
It's a long one, so I shall cut n paste the email I have just sent Tesco so you get the gist of it.
My email to them:
"I felt I had to contact you regarding my latest use of Clubcard Deals.
I received £115 worth of deal tokens to use as part payment against a short break at Haven in May. Having already checked the price of our break online, I was very pleased with the price (£241) and thought it was a totally brilliant deal to be saving £115 off of that price.
However, you cannot book online, only through Haven Call Centre. Not a problem so I thought. Or is it? When you call to make your booking with them, once you tell them you will be using your Tesco Clubcard Tokens they adjust the price of the holiday BEFORE using said tokens so that it costs more in the first place and I am therefore saving NOTHING!! I was quoted £375 for the same holiday that costs £241 online, minus my clubcard tokens = £260 therefore actually costing me MORE. That’s hardly fair is it?
I feel I have in essence wasted my quarterly vouchers which I spend large amounts at Tesco every week to accrue.
I have used Clubcard deals against days out before and the saving made is a true one. Theme parks don’t adjust their prices upwards just because you’re using your tokens, and you really do save money – which is wonderful when you have a large family, as I do.
I’m really really disappointed that I have essentially wasted my £29 worth of vouchers and hacked off at Haven that they are taking advantage and being sneaky. Is that the kind of partnership you want? I would be grateful of a considered response to my email.
Yours, a very let down"
So, there you have it. I hope this helps you in some way. Wonder if I'll get a decent response from them?

We use our tokens towards villa hire with French life. This is our 2nd year and we have only got to pay £120 cash towards the holiday and around £60 towards the tunnel when we book it.
Very well worth it for us and doesn't suddenly leap in price as it is the accomodation that you pay for not the people.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
