Any Tesco 'Clubcard deals' I should avoid?

OK, Orlando is Zone 5 and you need 6500 miles for each person.
I have just looked at the Airmiles website. Gat to Orl is £413, yet on the VA website is is £100 cheaper for the same date!!
Clubcard voucher - each 250 point voucher gives you 60 miles.
So to get a return from Florida it will mean you need 27000 points, if used for other deals this means they would usually be worth £1080.
Seems like a bit of a no brainer to me, using potential vouchers worth £1080 for a flight you can buy for £319 on the virgin website!0 -
Just to let you know airmiles prices now include all taxes
However with BA selling off regional departures ( connect / GB ) then there less options ,at the standard tariff - plus you get " limited availablity" as opposed to paying cash.
XL will be missed as for holidays / flights they represented the best deals IMOAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
i had been sving my vouchers to use on holiday but then also found that u dont get any of the discount. sent my expired vouchers to tesco with letter of disappointment of change of price- received standard response that my vouchers will be converted back to points for me.
i'll know not to save for a holiday with oints again0 -
No, that is the only thing about them, but I guess it depends on what you are saving for. A few years back we saved for Florida if we had booked online we would have saved about £200 I guess, and the holiday cost around £1700 - when the deals were worth collecting (in the days of the 1500/2500 point coupons and the like!!). Last year I used £600 of them for a 4 day summer holiday break to Butlins and I really do wish I had not because the same holiday a week before online was £280!! It meant it was a waste of points we could have used for other things.
I guess it is just a case of weighing up whether it is worth it before you actually go ahead and book. It might be cheaper to book a Sun Holiday rather than Haven for example. Shame, when it started it used to be worth doing but I don't think so anymore. I used to do 3 or 4 'big' shops a month to get the points but now I do one monthly shop and then get my weekly shop elsewhere - and I have always only used Tesco in the past - not anymore if there is little reward for doing so, I get bits here and there when I need them these days.0 -
I use mine for BA flights.
£520 of Clubcard Vouchers got me £4000 worth of BA flights.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

We have paid for Haven holidays with our vouchers, granted you don't get any discounts, but better than shelling out cash that you haven't got!
HOWEVER
Pontins have joined this year. I got the brochure, then rang to see if any of the promotions applied; THEY ALL DID!!
I got discount for early booking and 2 free child places. (A child doesn't pay full price until it's 18; very unusual! )
We've got 4 nights half board (serve yourself, eat as much as you want) in the best apartment in October for less than £600 = £145 in Tesco vouchers.
Better value than a Sun holiday.
But I must say, last year we thought about going with COSMOS, faaaar to expensive with the vouchers, we couldn't afford to top it up (got a week in a gold apartment in Haven instead!)0 -
Im actually appalled at what some of the posts have said about the deals.
I had just short of two grand to use in club card deals, and was going to use these on the holidays. Then I noticed that YOU HAVE TO PAY FULL PRICE if your going to use the vouchers. This is an insult and a cheek!! Why should we have to pay full price when everyone else gets a discount, or we end up paying more anyhow???
This really annoys me, and maybe contact trading standards???
Its like what the OP says, the theme parks dont charge more for a Merlin Pass do they, its the same for everybody.
Maybe if enough people complained then we should be able to pay the discounted rate??exercise that booty!0 -

You're having a laugh aren't you? If you pay in full with Clubcard Vouchers, it isn't costing YOU anything!!
If you don't like it, you don't have to collect Clubcard Points or shop at Tesco
You need to have a think about how the Clubcard scheme is funded. Do you think Tesco pay for it ALL?British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
