    Hi,

Morning everyone. ((HUGS)) to those who need/want them ...

tru ... I had never thought of grating candles and making new ones .. thanks for that :T

HH ... You must be so touched ... how fantastic of them :T

I've decided to take this week easy so today (if weather picks up) we are going to have a picnic and a walk by the river and then go to the park :D

If the weather doesn't pick up then we will have an indoor picnic and play board and card games.

Sausage, mash and beans for dinner.

The two housework things that I must do: 1 Load of washing, tidy kids room.

hope everyone has a great day :D

    Luv xx

    Morning everyone :hello:

    Busy day for us today.

Since the girls have been out of school, I like to spend a bit of time on maths and english first thing, so it's square numbers and reading comprehension this morning. We're also looking at earthquakes and why they occur so DDs will be busy with their books.

Following that, we shall be baking welsh cakes and experimenting with leeks, as we are doing a topic on traditional UK dishes. [You can have a read of some great ideas here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=748339 MSE'rs are so resourceful!]

We made welsh rarebit yesterday - or fancy cheese on toast - but it was delicious!

I will be making an appointment for DD2 today with the doctor as she has been suffering from pain in most of her joints for a few days. Not sure if it's because of the cold or not. I wondered if it's growing pains, although DD1 never suffered with those in her joints, but we shall see.

We're pretty much on top of the housework, apart from the ironing so it will be a once over today. I made a rota a few weeks ago and have been trying to stick with it, and, apart from the odd lapse, it hasn't been going too bad.

I've put the BM on, although only on a dough setting, as DDs like making their own shaped bread, and we have ended up with some odd shapes, but it's been fun.

We went to friends for dinner last week, and had lasagne pies, which were small individual pies, pastry on the outside, lasagne in the middle, and they were gorgeous. She had bought them from farmfoods, and, although they were tasty, I want to have a go at making our own.

I'm just going to venture over to the freebies board to look for fabric samples as we want to do some art projects, and although I have some clothes which are too small for DDs, I would rather send them to the charity shop than cut them up, as that seems a waste of good clothes.

HH - what a lovely gesture from your family.

Snowy (go to the dentist) :naughty: & Moiliere here it is. I know you don't do *cups* over there  but I'm afraid that's what this recipe has. If you just stick to a coffee mug measurement you should be right as it's pretty forgiving.

    Savoury Impossible Pie

I 1/2 cups milk 1/2 cup SR flour
    3 eggs salt & pepper
1 onion, diced 1 cup grated cheese
any grated vegetable you have - carrot, zucchini, etc anything lurking in the fridge
bacon or ham, diced (I leave it out now I'm a veggie ;))
I throw some frozen corn in sometimes. I also crush a garlic clove if I've got any.

Whack it all together & bake in moderate oven for 3/4 hour. It makes it's own pastry.
Instead of the bacon/ham option, drained salmon or tuna works well. You just put it what you have.

I forgot to welcome all the newcomers as well so a big cheery :hello:from me. Byeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    morning to everyone!

didn't get chance to read yesterdays thread!

Still waiting for last lost of results from consultant, she said she wanted to see me before the end of the month so she'd better hurry up!

DH started his new job today - got him up at 3.30am with a bowl of porridge and cup of tea before going back to bed for nearly 3 hours more!:D he's text me to say its going well - he's now a milkman.

Off to work later for an 11 hour shift:eek: then I'm off for 2 days:j had to do training yesterday on sighted guiding ( I work with visually impaired people) on h0ow to support them in the community etc.

DS2s paernts evening wasn't too bad - he seems to have improved his attitude thank goodness and if he keeps it up he should get at least C grades in his exams which he needs to get into college.

Snowy - hope you get the tooth sorted!

    Catowen :hello:

Morning all  hugs to those that need them

mrs-moneypenny - glad I'm not the only one that collects the postcards! :D Hope you enjoyed the film and your night out.
chocolate.orange - hope you are feeling better today
AussieLass - golden syrup dumplings sound great - I've yet to try the impossible pie, I might find the bits for it this weekend if I have time.
Snowyowl - hope the porridge didn't win and you feel better
Hester, what a lovely gesture from your children :o
Pen-pen - really glad you've heard about your job now, I hate the not knowing with things like this.

Later than normal for work (well, if you call 8 am late  - we have no fixed hours but my boss tends to call meetings at points between 8 am and 9 am to make sure we all get a full days time in  ) and tired from cycling, but my boss is AWOL - it's rowing season up here so lots of people are out on the water for the torpids. It's really cold here again and I can't feel my ears - I hope they are still there. Lots to do today. Got to go to the bank later and it's market day so I need to pick up fruit and eggs - I'll try not to break these.

I need to build a new computer as my laptop is on it's last legs, so I've got to work out the parts I need and order them. I think I might be able to pick up some old bits from the computer service - even if it's just a shell I'll be happy; I don't care if it doesn't look pretty - it just has to be fast and cheap :D Cue the living room looking like mission control for a few weeks :rotfl: Still, gives me something to do in the small hours when I can't sleep.

Got to make some cake for work tonight when I get in (well, if I get in at a reasonable hour), might make carrot cake muffins again as they worked well last time [STRIKE]then I can eat the frosting[/STRIKE]. :rotfl:

Sort of sorted my CV yesterday, it still needs some work but it's a start nonetheless.

Hope you all have a good day, cel x

  • Morning all,
just a quick post to say hi. We had role reversal here Mon and Tues, i went out to work and DH stayed at home with the kids - it was an eyeopener for both of us:D He realised that he likes going out to work and i realised that i like being at home with the kids:rolleyes: Unfortunately, there is still a mortgage to pay and so for the duration i will continue to work as much as i can during school hours temping as and when the work becomes available. As this was my first job i had to cover the half term by working two full days instead of 5 hours each day which meant that dh had to take two days annual leave to look after the boys while i did it. I enjoyed going to work and having a little time away from the home as well though:o

Today I am taking the boys out with their friends to the local park where they will be able to cycle and skate while us mums stand and shiver in the cold for a few hours.
HH - your children are lovely and that is a wonderful thing for them to do for you.
    dlb - Happy Birthday
hugs to everyone else and catch up with you all later, got to go and put washing out before the others turn up to pick us up.
Hope you all have a good day

Morning all........(((((((((((((((((Hugs )))))))))))))if you need one.....

Terrible night have been up since 4am when OH decided he was having one of his 'does' but he had been fidgitihg for hours.....I know he had been dreaming..............I shut myself in the sitting room and was still there when he came through at 8.45am.............I went back to bed for an hour, but no sleep.

I am disappointed with the response in this place in getting the problems with our newest resident resolved. She went out at 4.30am this morning, came back just after 6am and then out again..........we have decided that we are going to withdraw from joining in social occasions and I will no longer be cooking or doing the strawberry tea etc................we both feel that we need to stand back, there is such an atmosphere in the building and several backs are being stabbed, mine included...................

We are off into town this morning, treating ourselves to a lunch at the age concern centre and then take a look at the latest monstrosity they have built in our City, a new theatre called curves, its all glass at the front and has gone millions over budget, and guess who is going to have to pay for it.....??????????

Off to get myself a drink............................
