Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 20th February 2008. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning everyone,
can`t you just tell i`m on the late shift lol, i seem to be working backwards with my sleep pattern now, i was off yesterday and am on lates today so i`m pretty sure i will be like a zombie later.
I did fall asleep fairly early last night though but unfortunately that makes it less likely for me to have an hour before i go to w**k.
Never mind it`s already been a productive morning and the wm,dw and bm have been on, there`s an impossible pie in the kitchen which i made yesterday and it didn`t turn out too bad really considering i only had a loose bottomed tin to use so i lined it with greaseproof and it welded itself onto it, looks strange but tastes gorgeous and i can`t stop cutting a bit off everytime i go in the kitchen.
Just been upstairs to investigate the loud banging and found the cat playing with a big piece of string and banging a door open and closed repeatedly lol she was sat trying to look all innocent when i got upstairs but she is a little devil really.
I shall go and clean the kitchen up now and put another load in the wm methinks.
Have a lovely day everyone, hope it`s a bit warmer.
((((hugs)))) to everyone today needed or not.

Morning all - I'm up early because my workload is so huge in the office; will be at my desk at 6.15. DH is on halfterm this week so he's in charge of the catering; last night I didn't eat because he spent all day playing on the computer so I went to bed sulking. He finally offered me frozen pizza at 10.00 so I told him to forget it. I shall email him later and send him out to the shops for meat, potatoes and veg and tell him how to cook it for a proper dinner tonight; he really is hopeless at catering.
Very busy day ahead. I have a doctor's appointment this evening; I have a longstanding back problem and they're refusing me any more painkillers, so I'll be asking for a referral for an operation which I've been avoiding for 5 years. As I have private insurance through work, it'll probably happen pretty quickly, but I have to start from scratch with another MRI scan etc.0 -
Morning All
Well I think I'm moving along with my flat. Hope so anyway. I have to part with more money, which must mean something:eek:
Was working last night, so that's more time off they owe me and I've got to stay late today, so I think they owe me about 2 days now.
Just had a soya milkshake for breakfast, have HM quiche for lunch again and not sure what dinner will be yet.
Hoping to see my sister later, providing I don't have to work too late.
Hope everyone's okComping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
Morning all
I'm awake early today, still stunned about the offer from my kids.
2 of them are offering to take over my mortgage, the older ones. They both already have a house each & my DD has a house she lives in & a flat that she rents out. My mortgage is small in comparison to their earnings. One of my nephew's is a financial advisor & is married to a financial advisor & they have all mulled over the situation & seem to think it's doable. I know they are worried about what will happen as I get older as I have no private pension & unbeknownst to me I only paid a married womans stamp once my ex had joined me in my business. When I retire I have the princly sum of £54 a month to live on!
Have a good day.
Hugs Hester

Good morning everyone,
Cleaned out my filing cabinet this morning and re-wrote our budget on the spreadsheet. Just needs a bit of tweaking now. But we're still earning more than we spendso that's a plus. Mended a pr of jeans of DH's. XDIL & DGS came up to visit later in the morning. I've just come in from mowing the lawn. I did the front and DH the back. I bet he wished he never came home from work early.
Just off to have a shower & cut out some squares to make a patchwork cushion cover. Tea is leftovers and I might make golden syrup dumplings for dessert.
Snowy That wasn't too hard by the sound of it. The tv will take second place for a while now.
Sunnyday The impossible pie is nice isn't it. I have recipes for savoury ones too which are very easy to make.
HH Well that sounds a godsend. If they are financial enough and happy to do it, go for it.
MrsMix
Might pop back later. I have a date with House tonight.Have a lovely day. Byeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Morning all
Hester, what a wonderful gesture from your children, you might not be a millionaire, but you are certainly very rich in other ways
Freezing fog here today, so lots of layers for work as it will be freezing. A few weeks ago when I worked a customer said how did we stand the cold - I said lots of layers, and she said 'oh are you thin under all those clothes then  Thanks to her, I have now joined SW and finally realise that I do need to lose weight
The T is still sticking on my keyboard, so am having to read everything carefully before I post, I could get myself into trouble
Casserole in the slow cooker for tea, and pasta for lunch.
Have a good day everyone xYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Good morning all! Feeling much better this morning now that my contract has been extended (albeit on shorter hours  ).
Snowy - I'll continue as I am for the moment, but am on the look out for more hours. I like this job as it's really flexible (I take most of the school holidays off, and work the extra hours during term-time; and I'll work on my days off if the job needs it). I need that flexibility as DH has a tough job and is often away, and I want the Small Penguins to have someone around for them.
SOMO1 - hugs for you, hope you manage to get a ggood chat with the docs
Churchmouse - don't know why you're so worried about Haribo messing with your posts - I just threateaned her with her Big Sis and she backed off
Hester - that's kind of your children
dlb - have a Happy Birthday!
Off to make a pot of tea to wake the Small Ones. Found some HM baked beans in the freezer, so we'll have them for tea, with baked potatoes and sausages.
Have a great day, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Morning all
HH - What a lovely offer from your family :T
Sola - I can't belive you didn't get dinner after working all day -I'd not have been impressed.
Hugs to the rest of you...
DH left about an hour ago for his jaunt up and down the country - I say jaunt but I know it's work and I know he hates living out of a suitcase and staying in hotels so I don't envy him one bit.
Off to a friends for the day with DD's today - after our long walk yesterday DD2 actually took herself off to bed and slept for 2 hours yesterday afternoon - was in bed again by 8pm and is still sparko....must be doing her good.
No cooking today for me, friend is cooking lunch (well - opening some packets and shoving in the direction on an oven) so will just be a tea and toast fest tonight infront of a film with DD's snuggled up in my bed.
Hope you all have a great day."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

Good morning!
AGES since I was able to drop in early but have been lurking later in the day.
More mobile now that the meds are starting to kick in, but not as good as I want to be, so still not able to think about work yet.Have taken GP's advice and am finding things I enjoy, so re-reading my favourite books, doing my tapestry (x-stitch still too fine) and I have started to chug away on the sewing machine again - today I shall make a new ironing board cover:D .
Lovely weather here for the past few days so I have been on a washing/ line drying spree now I have an ironing mountain...oops!
Hester: What a wonderful family you have!
Charlies mum : what a rotten customer! SW is fabulous, and I love what I eat, so it just does not feel like a diet!
Off for a cuppa now:coffee:I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0
