It's the little old ladies you have to watch! Mother-in-law does the same too.

You know you're a DFW when you apend half an hour and 7 nail polish remover wipes to clean the sticky label off a box you received a present in last Christmas because it is perfect for another gift. And don't mind not being able to remove the black paint from your fingers for 3 days!
    Done that as well:rotfl:

  • Hi everyone,

I'm a very recent newbie here but one thought has just struck me...

You have all described here my DH who is not in debt at all and never ever has been - well, that just explains it!!!
He makes sure he only boils enough water in the kettle for 2 cups of tea (so there is never any spare/wasted water left in the kettle - I hate it!), he constantly keeps switching the lights off behind me, keeps closing the doors to keep the heat in and keeps turning the thermostat down (even though I pay for gas/electricity!), he does 1 big washing up in the evening (in the same bowl of water...), need I continue?;)

I'm in a huge debt on the other hand as I never ever listen to him. Just about to embark on a DMP, which he knows about and is rather proud of me for doing it.

  • You know you're DFW when some little innocent calls you to sell you something and you explain all the deals on the market to them and how badly their own company compares. Including why you'd never buy over the phone anyway and explaining the principle of Quidco.

Sigh, almost wish I didn't go TPS now.....

Mmm, free food. The best tasting food you can buy! :p

Recently come round to the idea of only boiling enough water for what you need. Got the idea from the Redbush tea newsletter (the newsletter I got as a result of applying for freebie tea; freebie quite expensive tea, in fact). :rotfl:
Apparently you should only boil the water once for the best cup of tea as reboiling water affects the oxygen level/quality of tea or something. what a fantastic excuse to save money!

Ate a hot cross bun which was days and days out of date (checked for mould & none to be seen), bit chewy but tasted alright. Cos it's a crime to throw anything out!

We got some hot cross buns from Asda before Xmas (and they were already knocked down due to reaching sell by date). Seven weeks later there was still no visible mould. It was a bit frightening, OH wanted to check they didn't glow in the dark. I think they might have been Dr Who monsters gestating or something.

I ate 'em though! (But not the expensive jam I bought at a local deli that had black mould on top the first time I opened it. Or the big BOGOFF jar of olives from Sainsbury's, white mould, ditto).
  • When you buy car insurance elsewhere because it is cheaper than your renewal quote and pass on the option to pay monthly as it will cost £11. Even though there is £50 cashback on the policy in 60 days time.
