Go mystery shopping! Then you get your money back for tickets and purchases!Praying at the church of MSE should be compulsory!

No need for the attitude! I have read that act and can not in it any mention of any power of search, as far as I can see it sets up the SIA and sets out how it will operate. It gives SIA representatives a power to enter premises, but make no mention of a power of search for SIA registered door staff... please 'spoon feed' me some more!
What part of "this is as far as I'm prepared to go" did you not understand?Don't grow up. Its a trap!

our local cinema has a free showing on a saturday morning, its for older films and your child needs a kidz card (only glasgow) they and one adult gets in free.... its soo funny as most of the kids have a pladtic bag full off sweets/juice/popcorn even seen some kids with macdonalds ...... not sure how the staff will stop them bringing in sweets :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

That basically shows that the majority of people will pay the asking price rather than go without because they think it cost too much etc etc.
Actually, the stats show that the majority of people (80% iirc) will either not have food or take their own in to the cinema - only a comparitively small minority are actually prepared to pay the inflated prices cinemas charge.
I know when Vue were doing their good promotion a couple of months back (was it 7 things for £7? something like that) I saw a lot more than 20% of people buying the stuff. And at an independent cinema I go to, they have reasonably prices sweets and stuff, (as well as an alcohol licence..) and most people there seem to pick stuff up.
I guess you're probably right that there are reasons they do it, but it just doesn't seem to add up to me.
Anyway, I refuse to believe their "we pay so much to the film distributors" argument in any case.
The UK has far and away the highest cinema admissions prices in europe...so how come is it all the other countries' cinemas get the films that much cheaper?...there are two answers...1) The UK cinema industry is bending over, ready to take whatever's given to them or 2) The whole "we need to cover our cost" thing is just a lie - and it's all about greed.
And when the cinema operators make millions of pounds of profit each year, I find it "hard to swallow" the idea that charging these inflated prices both in ticket cost and in food and drink is justifiable. It's needless greed and should be regulated against, either by the government (after all, if more kids were enjoying films, they wouldn't be on street corners kicking grannies etc) or by the film industry themselves - they're killing film...and that's sad.0 -
To be honest, I think the governement should be doing more important things than regulating cinema prices. Whilst I agree that the companies may add a huge mark-up to the food items sold, I also think that 2 hours without food wouldn't kill anyone, and if you are really that concerned, why not wait until the film is available on DVD or TV and eat what you want while you watch it. I certainly don't think that tax money should be spent on an industry which is essentially a luxury for those who can afford it. The only way to effect a change would be if the food in cinemas made them no profit through people choosing not to buy, but clearly there is a majority who will pay the cinema prices.0

I saw something about this on some 'Watchdog' type programme a while ago and whilst I don't recall the specifics, they cannot legally enforce the rule that you can't take your own stuff in. Something about the difference between law and company policy maybe......
No help to anyone, I suspect :rotfl:Neigh, neigh, and thrice neigh
