Seller wants feedback withdrawn

First of all, as a seller who has sold (literally) thousands of phones on ebay, mostly new but originally I started with second hand phones, I can tell you that there are various things that can go wrong.
 1. I have my phones unlocked by a professional company, but occasionally the unlock doesn't work. I send out far too many to check them all individually, so occasionally a buyer gets a phone that is locked that I have listed as unlocked. If i am informed it is easy to put right, but I need to be informed.
 2. Is the buyer using the '3' network? The vast majority of unlocked phones still will not work with a '3' network sim. That network is 3G, most phones are 2G. Hands up all those of you who didn't know that? The seller, who sounds as though they are selling their own used phone, probably didn't know that either.
 3. If it is NOT on the '3' network it is entirely possible that the seller believed it was unlocked, but didn't have a different sim with which to test it. Why would they?
 4. I have on many occasions dropped my parcels off at the post office and found that they haven't processed them that day because they have been too busy. OK it's unlikely, but it happens.
The buyer goes on about the seller lying, but states at the top of the thread:I bought a second hand mobile on ebay. Nothing fancy, stated it was unlocked no sim card, so quite cheap.
Seller send a message after 5 days saying she would post the following tuesday.
A week later, I enquired aboiut the phone and she claimed it had beens ent. On receiving it I noticed it was sent the day after my message.
Now when I was at school "5 day" plus "a week later" adds up to 12 days. Yet later on in the thread the buyer states:If you think that 3 weeks to send an item......
How did 12 days become 21 days? How can the buyer slate the seller for lying when she comes up with comments like this? I now find myself asking how much of the buyer's testimony I should be expected to believe!
The seller might not have been the best-performing seller in the world, but at the very least should have been given the chance to put matters right. I think the buyer can be considered extremly lucky that the seller had alreaday left positive feedback, because especially with the new feedback rules that are due to come into place, we do not want buyers who leave negs without giving the seller at least one chance to redeem themselves, and it is why we as sellers are up in arms about the new feedback rules - not because we want the chance to 'retaliate', but because we can see a huge surge in inconsiderate buyers doing exactly this sort of thing.
Let us not forget that for the professional seller it's his livelihood you are screwing around with, for buyers a neg is little more than hurt pride. the buyer may have made an error in the listing - we all do - and that is EXACTLY why the seller should be first given the chance to put matters right. I would counter with a request to put the matter right, and if the buyer agrees and does so then I would agree to remove the feedback. a seller with 100+ good feedback doesn't sound like a seller who is deliberately out to decieve buyers, and remember casual sellers are usually working too and may not have been able to get to the post office for some time.0

I would have asked for a refund, if no joy I would,ve given a neg but I don't think I would,ve claimed on paypal as I think (not sure) you can only claim a couple of times a year and OP said this was penniesNever put off until tomorrow what you can avoid doing altogether.:D0

I'm sorry, but as a seller you really should check the items before posting them. You have a duty to ensure the phones are as described.0

Kin ebay sellers. I'm starting to think they're all lying morons without a shred of moral decency.
Good on you for leaving negative feedback. The seller lied. Twice. They could have sent a message apologising for having not sent the phone when they said they would. They didn't. They knew what they were doing and instead of apologising for it, they want their untarnished feedback kept that way. I thought the whole idea of feedback was to be honest????? What's the f***ing point in it if the seller gets whingey and asks for it to be removed? This country is called Great Britain. It would be called Amazing Britain if it wasn't for people like you pulling the average down0

I have posted a simple question in view of an existing situation where I thought I had used my right as a buyer to inform other ebayers about a seller with standards that fall short of the basic requirements, and in a matter of 40 odd posts, I have been called ignorant, idiot, incapable to count,…
This is far cry from what I thought this forum was about.
Now, you may have learnt how to count but like a few other contributors to this thread, you didn’t learn how to read….
The phone was purchased and paid on Friday 11/1 . 5 days later, on wed 16/1 I received a message informing me it would be posted on the following Tuesday 22/1. A week after this indicative date, Tuesday the 29th, I enquired about the whereabouts of the phone. It was posted on the wednesday 30th and received on the thursday 31st.
So no it doesn’t make exactly 3 weeks but 2 weeks and 6 days, but I feel it was close enough.
The phone is not locked to “3” but to Virgin. So this does quite explains it.
I have no doubts the seller didn’t intend to lie on this. But it is my views that if you don’t know something for sure (and she couldn’t have known for sure) you don’t use it as a selling point.
I am rather appalled at the number of sellers on here who think this is acceptable; every item I have sold on ebay has been precisely described, to the last scratch. As a seller, I have gone out of my way to make sure a toy purchased before Christmas using an e-cheque that took forever to clear got to the buyer on time by paying for a special delivery at my cost. I therefore found that I had been very poorly treated by this seller and wouldn’t want to recommend her to anyone.0

don't worry about the few, the majority were with you on this
ebay sellers are a breed of their own, they want to be a professional business but then come on here b itching about 1 little neg
imagine if tesco came on here going on about the odd customer who was not happy!0

            Well said.
And imagine the abuse they'd get - deservedly so - for trying to sell any item with a misleading description.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
