you should have given the seller the chance to resolve the problem before leaving negative feedback

Ebay themselves suggest that a negative or neutral is the last resort and should only be used once communication has broken down. It would therefore seem inappropriate for the OP to have left a neg at the first hurdle.

However it has been left and the OP is now perfectly entitled to let it stand.

I would also suggest that if the seller was now to leave a follow up stating that neg left was without any comms that the OP might have problems in future. With the new feedback rules if I noticed this on a buyers account I would certainly consider pulling bids and blocking that buyer as I can't afford to deal with buyers who leave negs like that.

I can kind of see it both ways.

Yes, it would have been better to contact her before leaving the neg. BUT

If I'd been lied to, I would be a dissatisfied buyer too.

Isn't that the whole point of feedback though? Why was it inappropriate to warn others of his/her experience? Also think the word ignorant was quite harsh & very rude considering the situation!!

Negative feedback should be left after communication has failed or remains unresolved. The buyer did not communicate, therefore were ignorant of this need. If the selller told them to get stuffed, then that would be an acceptable and appropriate time for a neg.

I'm perfectly justified in my comments, and would be quite happy to add the OP to my BBL. I would also be looking out for comments in the feedback received, or follow up comments that suggest certain buyers have communication issues, or unreasonable expectations.

Instead you thought it would be appropriate to screw around with a sellers trading history.

Nice to see that sellers are being given a fair crack of the whip with problem resolution then.

This is sellers; biggest concern about the new feedback changes - ignorant and inconsiderate buyers leaving poor feedback without prior communication. And people still wonder why sellers wait for feedback from the buyer efore leaving theirs?

I would have negged you by return for poor communication and inappropriate use of feedback. Would you have liked that?
I have both bought and sold stuff on ebay.
This is the first negative I have left.

The system should also be used to weed out people who can't be bothered to state facts.

Nothing reasonable and fair about selling things with false descriptions, then taking her time sending it out. The end of the day seller tried it on and got negged TOUGH. Maybe she won't mess up again.

    Locked not unlocked!
    Wrong charger!
Said it had been sent - was sent day after she said this!
Had to be reminded in the first place to send it!

What did the seller expect? That's not just one mistake, so if they were mistakes it shows a level of carelesness that she did not bother her but.
