Thanks all. Have submitted an online claim. Only for one return flight, but better in my pocket than theirs.

I've just received an email from air passenger fuel charge settlement. At first I thought it was a 'scam' email as I don't remember registering, but we do have a flight to claim. I think I'll check with DH when he comes back tomorrow to see if he registered. Has anybody else received the mail (with 2 attachments)?

I've received the email too and am filling out the form online now.

I've asked this on the Travel forum too, but does anyone know how they work out how much refund is due per flight? All the email says is £4 - £20, but not how that's worked out.
  • Hi,
Sorry, don't know if this is the right place for this, but how would I find out my flight details? I know I took what I think would be an eligible flight in this time period (Virgin Atlantic to South Africa), but I don't remember the flight number, exact dates etc.

Would there be a flight schedule or somewhere I could get this info?

    TIA!

Yeah, I've had this too. Like you, I wasn't sure what to do about it, I was expecting to get something through the post as the website said that they would be 'sending out packs' from 14th July. Think I might give it a little while yet, see if anything arrives in the post!

Hi Irish Wench, For flight details do you know what date you flew? Look at your passport , maybe that will help.......
For flight number suggest you phone Virgin or a travel agent/ticket agent, (flight numbers rarely change) then with these two bits of info they'll find you on the flight manifest
    Good luck.

PS Dusty KItten, Yes I had the same e-mail too, When I clicked the link open it was the same as the Virgin / www.airpassengerrefund.co.uk which I'd filled out earlier, a bit of a mystery so have ignored it, maybe divine guidance will follow. No need to panic though as you have until 2012 to claim!
  • I got a form this morning to fill in asking for details of the flights I took. It also asks for which option I want to be refunded with; cheque or pay into my bank account. I am not sure I want to give my bank details out even if it is quicker than the cheque, but hey I have been waiting 4 years what is a few more weeks.

Things seem to be moving quite quickly now by the looks of things.

Has anyone heard anything since filling out the claim form online (or in post)?

I have a feeling this is goig to be a slow process and we're not going to hear anything (let alone get our refund) for months

There is a Fairness Hearing on 26 September in San Francisco to consider whether the Settlement is fair, reasonable and adequate. At the Fairness Hearing, the Court will decide whether to approve the Settlement and the request for the lawyers’ fees and expenses. After that, who knows....?

I registered my claim online back in July and heard nothing, no confirmation email or anything, so was starting to wonder if I have done it properly. I've just phoned the automated helpline and the details of the fairness hearing are all confirmed on there.

Incidentally, if you haven't yet registered and flew as a member of their frequent flyer club, all you need to submit your claim is your frequent flyer number. They will then go back and check which flights you took which are applicable for a refund. I flew twice to Boston and once to New York within the time stated.
