Hiya Skintscotlass - i'm doing the 5mGC though it is only five minutes. It includes things like putting the vegetable waste in the compost bin instead of leaving it in box by back door / picking up leaves / tidying up children's stuff / generally making it look better by decluttering. I hope to do more once the weather improves.

DH had his snip in December. He felt bruised for about four days but was fine once I convinced him to take paracetemol. He was in there for ten minutes and I bought him a takeaway and beer on the way home....didn't I just spoil him. Also told children to stay away from him after DS 'caught' him in a sensitive place.

Why does my cat want to sit on my knee all day when I'm studying but now I've finished she's stuck her nose in the air and sat about two feet away from me. I want to be a cat because they can be so rude and people still love them!

I do not have a clue about what you are all on about but i think you may have lost it, squirrel.....with catapaluts.....bushes......latex gloves are you mad people or are you on a sinister operation:rotfl:

Pigpen i think they like to write in their wee books so many have put on weight, i was told to give mine loads of butter too. Doctors hate anyone questioning them as far as they are concerned there right and we don't have a clue what we're on about.
Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough.
And things go wrong no matter what I do.
Now and then it seems that life is just too much.
But you've got the love I need to see me through.

Brrrrrr!!! Been back from football for 2 hours and I still haven't defrosted!!! My thoughts however this evening are with the family of the little girl who is missing in Yorkshire, my fingers are firmly crossed that she is home safely soon. I feel guiltyfor even moaning about feeling cold when there is a little 9 year old somewhere out there. I think because she's the same age as my DS1 who legs it/wanders off on a regular basis it's upset me even more.

Well I need to do the sitting room again tomorrow because it's a poo tip, well ok it's 10 times better than we used to keep the other house but still messy. I will probably have to play mousetrap again, we had 2 games tonight (stopping in middle so I could take DS2 to football) it's really hard work making 2 kids win :rotfl: sheer luck but me and DP had to 'cheat' to loose.

vanilla, dog biting tyres on a moving car, eh! How did it manage that?
soappie, will pop in for progress on ORF :D

soappie - I think your castor oil plant is probably the hardy shrub Fatsia japonica, and not the poisonous one, Ricinus communis. This is a tender annual plant, and usually grown for foliage effect in those exotic planting schemes popular in resorts like Eastbourne. The seeds are large and prickly, and the poison ricin is derived from them. There was a raid somewhere a couple of years ago on a supposed ricin production centre, and several of the seed suppliers stopped selling it. I have read that it isn't actually that easy to get ricin from the seeds, and you'd probably find it easier to boil up some rhubarb leaves.:D

Does your plant have a stout trunk, and large palmate leaves, with large whorls of flowers late in the year followed by black berries? If so, it's Fatsia, sometimes called the false castor oil plant, and also grown as a houseplant. I haven't checked whether it's poisonous, so don't snack on it while you're waiting just in case.

PS Good luck with your mission.

Vanilla, yes we are mad, but it may help, if you need background information, to study the flylady thread from last week. Our madness may be slightly mitigated by its revelationary posts....

Thanks for that Serena. As far as flowering is concerned, it seems to do that most of the year and has almost a year round supply of berries too. It's also very hardy - has never been damaged by frost etc. and it's on a north facing side of the property so if it was of housplant quality it would be dead by now - it's been there at least 18 years. Once ORF is suspended for the day tomorrow, I'll take a photo of it and perhaps you could confirm what it actually is?
