skintscotslass there should be a button on the alarm that says test.....press it and it should make some sort of noise. If in doubt of it working or not, and you can't find instructions (some you may be able to find instructions for online) for what they cost (free from some fire stations) I would replace them.

Thanks lil_me - now I think about it, I dont think the alarm has ever gone off  . So I'll have a look tomorrow and probably end up replacing it. Cheers!!

Burn a piece of toast, that is what usually set's ours off :rotfl:

And I would prescribe more chocolate ;) nothing else is quite as satisfying.

I know, but I've given it up for Lent!

However, I found some tablet that DD made last week. Not quite as good as chocolate, but it was extremely sweet and just what I needed.

    Night all xx

michelle - I had 18 months between my first two. For thelast few months of the pregnancy (ie DS was 15, 16,17 months old) we talked a lot about the baby, he would point at my tummy and say "baby", we had books about the new baby etc etc. I was convinced he'd taken nothing on board at all. But from the minute DD was born he never ever pointed at my tummy again saying baby, it was really like he knew. It was brilliant. I was so surprised. So yes, I bet Charlie is "getting it".

Take it easy , no more dizzy turns please, and dont squash that baby
