Don't panic ames, you'll get it done, it's always easier to work under pressure because you CAN'T procrastinate.
I've just submitted mine, such a relief! Although I nearly had a heart attack the other day because I put it through Turnitin (plagiarism checking software) and it came out as 33% plagiarised!! It's ok though because after getting over the shock, I checked to see what it was saying was plagiarised and it had counted my entire bibliography as plagiarism  Obviously the bibliography's the same as the original papers, that's the point!! Stupid software!
Thanks Sali, but it doesn't seem like it! I literally have massive amounts still to do. Can anyone offer me any tips on how to get it done? (Apart from the obvious get off here one!)
Well done on submitted yours, I cannot wait to get that handing in feeling!Student MoneySaving Club member 017!0 -

How much you got left? I have to do 8000 words in about 5 days including today..Gotta do approx 4000 words before tomorrow's meeting with supervisor, and i just cannot find the motivation.
What kinda helps is put a word count for each chapter or bit you are going to write and tick off one at a time. for example for my 4000 words for tomorrow I have one bit of 400, one of 1000, one 1500, one 1500 and one 500, so just doing one at a time! (and thats nearly 5000 )0 -

Hey! Got about half left. Thanks for the tip, i'll try that. You are doing a MA or something aren't you, i'm sure you are doing something longer than a dissertation anyway?!
Why do we do this to ourselves? Are there loads of people on your course too who have near enough finished? Don't they make you really jealous? I know I am jealous, but I only have myself to blame! Oh well . . back to it!Student MoneySaving Club member 017!0 -

Nope not an MA, doing a BSc in Management. Its worth 1/4 of the 3rd year and I choose to do it!! It was optional, they call it a dissertation but it has to be between 15000-18000 words. and yes I am jealous of my friends who have written 20000 and trying to cut down! :eek:0 -

Hey ames, my sister has a good 'visual reward system' to keep her going when she's struggling, maybe that will help? It's kind of hard to describe but I'll try.
She gets a bit of A4 paper and draws lines across it, then next to the lines she puts numbers (100, 250, 500, 1000,1250 etc). Anyway, then she tapes this paper up next to the computer screen and clips a paper clip onto it, so the pointy bit is next to the line that correlates to her current wordcount. Then she gets to move the paper clip down to the next line everytime she gets to the next wordcount 'goal'. Then she has a haribo haha.
That's the best I can describe it! It works for her anyway, sort of an instant reward for writing, and something to aim for. So when you've had enough, you'd think to yourslf 'oh I'll just get to the next line' and then you get the satisfaction of seeing your progress.
I liked it anyway
It sort of looks like this -
100
250
500
etc until the maximum word countTotal abstinence is so excellent a thing that it cannot be carried to too great an extent. In my passion for it I even carry it so far as to totally abstain from total abstinence itself. Oscar Wilde0 -
Hey, what is the PGCE - PCE like?? What funding can you get etc and whats the prospects looking like now?
I am in same situation as you but have flipped it over and done my Masters first then starting that course in September, after my interview process in May!
God, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone - it's like doing a degree in red-tape!!! The teaching is great fun though - 150 hours from November til May and you get a bursary - not as much as you would if you were teaching secondary though - What you get depends on what you're teaching. You also get a student loan for fees and one for yourself, plus the grant for 1 year depending on status.
I'm self funding for my Masters next year and having to go on IS as well - luckily saved just enough for my fees but still under the savings threshold. Still going to be belt tightening year though!! I have been offered a job at my placement college but it's an hourly post only and they can't guarantee hours and there's no holiday or sick pay either - So I've declined a full time post - I need to do at least 16 hours to get WTC and I can't face doing my Masters over 2 years and teaching that many hours as well - 16 hours is pure teaching - no prep or marking time included. I'm going to teach 2 lessons a week which means they'll deduct the excess over £20 a week from my IS but it'll just be enough to cover childcare anyway and then I don't have rent to worry about.
Still prevaricating over this flaming essay - only 1500 words but it's sooo boringNoli nothis permittere te terere
