My usual revision technique is to write out all of my lecture notes and then read them and re read them until it's in my head (I do my extra reading then too). I'm currently writing my noted but feel like I'm wasting so much time, but I'm too scared to switch to a different technique now in case it doesn't work!

After you've had a break - why don't you try answering some past exam questions?? I usually find this helps - set yourself the same number of questions and then try and answer them under the same conditions - time limit and no books. Then mark them using the books afterwards.

Also make sure you know what topics are going to be set and how many questions need to be answered and learn one more subject than is required - i.e. if you have to answer 3 out of 6 topic questions, then learn 4 topics - so you always have a reserve one.

You can also just write a few essays on the topics using your books and then just reread them over a few times so you will have some key statements and theories stuck in your head IFSWIM???

    What are you studying BTW?

Thanks Elisebutt, I'm starting with past papers tomorrow. I usually leave them until last, when in theory I should know everything, but you're right, doing them now ensures I know what I need to. I feel a bit silly about my rant earlier, I had a proper panic, it was horrible!

I'm studying biomedical sciences, my exams are on Bacterial Disease Mechanisms, Oncogenes and Cancer and Biochemical Messengers and Signal Transduction. Eep!

I'm starting to wish I'd done a degree in one of those stupid courses you hear about, like The Life and Times of Madonna or something  Exams would be way less stressful!

Have you got any elise? I think they should be outlawed!

Exams?? Nahhh - Not with a PGCE - just stewpid essays and reports on learning strategies and condensing a 68 page report into a poster then presenting findings - Gaaah!!!!

September though - Start my Masters so there may be a few exams in Finance and Corporate or Strategic Management - Gaaak!!!

One thing I have to figure out though - I have a 6 week live project abroad - maybe Dubai or the Seychelles - Brilliant but I'm a lone parent - sigh!!!! So what do I do with them - Mum won't have them for that long unless they do it in the summer as they have to go to school and I can't take them with me really!

My last dissertation was on the way that technology has affected customer buying behaviour, so this time I'm going to carry on from that a step further and see how social networking on t'interweb has affected their buying behaviour - how they research holidays on places like trip advisor and forums like these, as well as the obvious MySpace and Facebook. I am sooo looking forward to it, especially as last time I got totally different results from what I was expecting, just using secondary research from Mintel and Keynote. This time I'm going to do some focus groups and interviews as well as the physical hard data as I have a whole extra 5000 words to play with:D

I may well be on here looking for volunteers:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Whats SPSS???????????

SPSS is 'statistical package for social sciences' in other words...
how to put all your research data into your laptop and come out with complete undecipherable results.
I now have 5 books on the subject, attended 10 lectures, and have been trying to get to grips for the past 2 days, but am just going round in circles and getting really stressed, as time is getting very short.
    I feel completely shredded.

Bamber - congrats on finishing! What you said about just writing is similar to what I am doing. Just writing about the sources, getting thoughts down but I have no references or historian's opinions etc. Will have to add them in soon!
Pavlovs - Sorry to hear that about your computer! My friend's battery on her laptop stopped working to other day and then when she was using her pendrive in a borrowed laptop the files just came out as stars not words. So everyone make sure you back up and back up your work!

Come on everyone, we can get there, not long now!! :)
