    Afternoon all,

Very cold here to-day, our water pipes were frozen earlier so will have to leave kitchen tap open a little tonight...pipes will have to be insulated properly tomorrow.

Still feeling pretty carp, cold all the time and the only thing I fancy foodwise is soup...put 12 cloves of garlic in the mixed veg one I made this morning so that should have some effect!

Smoky...glad that news is getting better, take care of yourself too.

GR...that sounds sore, go easy for a while...if you must slide downstairs its less painful if you do it headfirst....

Nothing much happening here...sunny now, it has been a wonderful dry week, most unexpected and very welcome.

Hugs to all in need or want

    Welcome Lindseyann
    Hugs to PP & Smokey
Hubby & I got back from our drive yesterday to find the lodger in the hall with her suitcase, she wanted a lift to the station as she'd decided to go & stay with family for half term! She was telling me a very complicated story about her aunt who is having breathing problems & the Dr said it was caused by her blowing on her new baby, I really didn't understand what she meant, but by going away for half term she saves a weeks rent & can send it home to help with her aunts medical bills.
Anyway I dropped her off at the station & when I got home hubby & I had some serious 'us' time, we were snuggled up in bed watching a film by 8, I fell asleep before it finished & slept through til 7 this morning, lol.
    Hugs Hester

SOMO1 - sorry for your troubles - good luck

rchddap1:wave:  - how lovely to hear from you and Lily - I had meningitis at six weeks - not sure what kind - and there have been no major lasting effects

Halfway through dd11's room but have been taking breaks to do other things too - including washing my bike in the garden - now need to redo hanging laundry as there are little oil and gunge spots all over where I scrubbed the wheels with a brush  I am pretty filthy too now so will have lovely long soak before dd11 gets back. Gave up trying to sort all the dr who stuff and have just bunged it willy nilly into one of her under bed drawers
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

What a weird church service. Well the church wasn't weird in itself, but it felt weird to me. Mr tru wore a stripey shirt, I joked that he looked like Martin Lewis. When we got there, lots of men were wearing stripey shirts. The pastor (who had a stripey shirt on) did a thing about money and debt, and announced that they'd put together a small team of people to help with budgeting, loans, CCs etc. They stressed that they weren't trained debt councellors but they could help with pointing people in the right direction (CAB, etc). I was in my element :D I spoke to the pastor afterwards - I might get involved in this........... I wonder where I can get my hands on approx 20 copies each of the money diet and os books for free. Do you think I can blag them from Martin? :D

I want to catch up with my blog in the next couple of days, things have settled back to almost normal now so I can get back to serious OSing, moneysaving and moneymaking schemes :D

    GR I hope you're OK hug_smiley_sm.gif PenPen, you're a star :T

It's been a bit of a knackering day - after going exploring in Marylebone after church (where I discovered Marylebone Farmers' Market and bought NOTHING :A) I got the bus home, only to get stuck in complete gridlock thanks to an impromptu gathering in Trafalgar Square of Albanian Kosovans celebrating their independence. This consisted of turning up en masse in cars and blaring their horns continually    I didn't know what it was for until I got home and looked up the news. If I had known that the bus would be stuck on Haymarket for nearly an hour, I'd have got out and walked, but the crowds and the noise were quite intimidating (I'm crowd- and noise-phobic at the best of times) and I didn't know how far I would have to walk to escape them. It took me an hour and a half to get from Oxford Circus to Camberwell - I could have walked it in an hour and a quarter :o and needless to say I got home with a splitting headache from all the car horns.

Anyway, got cooking to do and an opera review to write, so better be off.

    Rzl xx

Edited to say: Glad you're OK, Gingham

    Evening everyone

    Huge hugs to (((SOMO1)))

smokybabe - so pleased to hear that your DH is slightly better. Big hugs to you too.

Had a lovely meal last night with our friends last night. She's such a good cook, it puts me to shame. :o However, I've just watched some of a celebrity "Come Dine with Me" (on More 4) and I've picked up a few ideas for the next time that they come round! When that will be, I have no idea as my diary seems to be filling up rapidly.

This afternoon has been filled with me panicking about going back to work tomorrow. I've got a meeting with the head at 1.15pm - I'm not the only one, just the first - a pupil progress meeting to check that I'm trying my hardest as a teacher. It's very well and good having these meetings, as obviously she is overall responsible for these children BUT she doesn't have a clue who they are. Seriously! It's not like it's the largest school in the world. She doesn't even know the teachers' names - and there are only 9 of us! :o Hey, it pays the bills and is a means to an end. What that end is, I'm not sure...... ;)

Right, time to go and cook supper. It's honey soy salmon AGAIN. Well, we haven't had it for 3 weeks. I always try to make it towards the end of the week/at the weekend, as the rubbish gets collected on a Monday, including the salmon packaging. :D Oh, and plenty of "odour eating" candles are lit in the kitchen. Think they're actually called "chefs candles" or "kitchen candles". They work, anyway!

Have a good week everyone.

    Evening all :D

Well I've had a good day. The duck turned out beautifully, think it was your instructions I followed Pink;) You obviously need to be better at carving than me though, or need a bigger duck, as I struggled to make it do 5 adults (good job I *wasn't very hungry* ) Plus I have a lovely tub of duck fat for future roasties:D Not quite as good as goose fat, but better than lard.

At the farmer's market I picked up a wild rabbit (my first:eek: , goodness I'm branching out:rotfl: ) for £3.50, so that'll be cooked in the next couple of days. Plus speciality sausages and bacon. Cost a bit but worth it.

somo1 hope your dad's op has gone well, and that he'll soon be home again.

Gingham Ribbon, sorry to hear of your fall, but glad PennyPenguin was able to help you:D Having now met her, I'm not the least bit surprised that she would step up:A Hope the bruises go soon;)

DH is driving me crazy........ he's on his laptop looking at switching fuel suppliers, but insists on giving me a blow by blow account, and I'm finding it very hard to concentrate on this:rotfl: Just do it!

Enjoy what's left of the evening,

    CM x

These instructions you mention - are they on a post for which you can supply a link? ;) I have a duck that I bought half price MONTHS ago and it's been languishing in the freezer ever since. I LOVE duck.
