Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 17th February 2008. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good Morning everyone,

I couldn’t sleep so I’ve given in and got up. I can’t concentrate on my book and it’s a bit boring sitting about by myself, so I’ve tidied the house, cleaned the fireplace, and done all the dishes. Now I’m waiting for the water to heat up so I can run a lovely, deep, pamper yourself. kind of bath before they all get up and create havoc. :D

Later this morning I might go and have a mooch around the local boot sale, after that I’ll gather up the kids and pop round to my Dad’s for a coffee. This afternoon, if I’m not asleep, I’d like to sort out one of the vegetable beds in the garden. Chances are I’ll be asleep.

Smokey, thank you for taking the time to let us know how things are going for you. We’ve all been very worried about you all. I hope that your OH continues to improve. Please remember to take care of yourself too.
Churchmouse, Glad to hear you and Penny had a great time yesterday….best to ignore Haribo’s version of events, unless that’s how it really was! :D
Penny Pincher, I do hope your cold got better and that you were able to enjoy the wedding.

Right, the water is gurgling....off to have a soak. :DI hope that you all have a lovely Sunday.

Morning. Very cold out there today, but dry which is a welcome break from the rain. Off to church this morning and then not sure what to do for the rest of the day. OH has lesson planning to do for school, so I might watch some footy or load some items on E-bay.
Went to Plymouth yesterday by train, not a bad day out, did not buy much though.
well folks, have a nice day

Morning all. Didn't get a chance back on here yesterday but want to say SMOKY - so glad that things are looking up.We've all been thinking of you.

    Welcome to the newbies!

I spent most of yesterday baking, shopping with DH (nothing exciting; he needed some steel toe-capped boots for work). I did try on some boots that were bogof but the 4 was too small and the 5 was too big so I didn't get any! I didn't really need them but they were a bargain!

DH cleaned the windows - all this sun made them look disgusting; really showed them up!

Tried to do some knitting last night but kept dozing off; I was hoping it would keep me awake!

Dinner today is roast chicken, swede, carrots, pots and gravy & a suet pudding for pud - if there's room.

DS1 and his family will visit this afternoon; they didn't come last Sunday because he had hurt his back but he's been to an osteopath who worked wonders so, hopefully, he's fit this weekend.

Well, can't think of anything else so I shall take DH his cuppa and jump in the shower.

    Have a great Sunday, everyone.

    Morning everyone :hello:
i`ve just been outside and my it`s cold, everywhere is white with frost and it looks like snow as it`s so thick.
I was hoping to lie in this morning to get myself in the right timescale for late shifts at work but it`s not happening at all.
So far i have emptied the dw and the wm - the clothes are hung on the radiator airers and smell lovely now that they are warming up and starting to dry.
The bm is on and i finally remembered to buy wholemeal flour so this is my first time trying a 50/50 wholemeal loaf, hope it turns out well - fngers crossed.
In the oven there is a pork hock, a lovely chicken and a smashing piece of pork who ever did my shopping this week at asda really did well picking out the meat i am so pleased with it.
Plans for today are to clean upstairs as it never got done yesterday and have a nice bath before walking the hounds and having a nice dinner- really looking forward to the dinner as we don`t get chance to do this very often.
Later i need to do a new freezer inventory and change my meal planner, we were having salad for 3 days this week but with this cold weather thats all changed now and more warming food is needed. Roll on spring it can`t come soon enough!
I`m off to catch up with yesterdays thread and then start the chores.
Have a lovely relaxing Sunday everyone.

    Good Morning All

OMG! how early is this for me! Especially on a Sunday, apart from nursing a hangover, Im just making OH some bacon butties & a flask of tea, as he has been out in the frost since 5.30am, doing a car boot. And yes, Ive got to help!

Had a great night last night in Town, 1st time in donkey's years Ive been. Infact, It was way before the smoking ban, so that was a novelty for me having to smoke outside and not drink at the same time! It was my friends birthday! Plus I also met up with people from work!

Housework got done y-day, so its only the washing we need to get down today!

    Hugs to all

Lovely and sunny here again but a very heavy frost.

DS has football today, its at home but I am going to stay at home and cook dinner - roast pork. I got cold yesterday and couldnt warm up.

Will also be doing some washing & ironing today. DD will start getting depressed as she is back to school tomorrow - she has got to finish her homework which she has left to the last minute again.

Other than that nothing to report - Smokey I hope your husband continues to improve.

    Have a great day.

    Hi Y'all,
I can't believe I was awake at 7am on a Sunday! What's wrong with me, and on the last day of the half-term veg out as well!!

I've not been posting much on OS lately, maybe because the nearest OS activity I can find time for ATM is chucking my own parsley garnish onto a Mr T lasagne and passing it off as my own, Mr T Strudle and Ice Cream also featuring large in the Chez MATH diet.

I'm not completely back-slidden though and will be cooking a proper meal today :

Pork and apple sausages with apple sauce
    Honey roast tatties and parsnips
    Yorkies
    Carrots, broccoli and cauliflower
    Eve's Pudding

Can ya tell I've still a glut of windfalls in the freezer? LOL

This last week has been a frenzy of jobs I've been saving up since Christmas. Spring cleaning, wardrobe sorting and an ebay marathon. I did manage to take the MATHLETTS to the coast for one day though. Of course we picked the coldest, foggiest day of the whole week to do this! LOL but had a nice time hunkering down against the elements in our favorite fish'n'chip restaurant.

Back to the grind tomorrow, with the MATHLETTES starting a heavy schedule of rehearsals for their various shows, Church Anniversary Services to be involved in and appraisals at work to look forward too. Are Tesco Lasagnes on BOGOF ATM?:D

    Hugs to all

    Good morning :hello:

smokybabe - good to hear positive news about OH. Hope he continues to make progress.

HariboJunkie - you are a NAUGHTY girl :naughty: And if your version of events is to be believed ;) so are CM and PenPen :D

Well, I'm full of cold again  I've been bunged up on and off since the beginning of January, and I'm sure it's the same cold which I keep thinking has gone away before it turns round and hits me again  I've got church choir this morning so must be able to sing - I'm off to have a shower in a mo so maybe the steam will clear me out a bit.

I bought some rosemary the other day for a recipe and only used half of it, however I was digging round in the freezer yesterday and found a pack of lamb chops I didn't know I had, so am going to combine them with the rosemary and rustle something up for dinner tonight  Also need to do a very small "odds and ends" shop - needs to be somewhere which sells Sharwood's Rice Noodles for a recipe in the current Waitrose magazine. I've looked in every shop I've been in this week but nowhere seemed to sell them  I don't have a Waitrose near me but as I'll be near Oxford Street for church, I'll go down to John Lewis food hall and try there. Waitrose/John Lewis is always so tempting, though - I MUST NOT end up buying a load of stuff I don't need.

Anyway I must stop waffling and go and have that shower...

Hugs to anybody who wants them.

    Love Rzl xx

  • Morning all,

Well, Hubby is working again today :( . Always have mixed feeling about that, We desperately need the extra money, but I also miss the family time we have on the weekends.

Good idea Pink about going to a car boot. I need something to do today with the kiddies and that might be my solution ;) . Otherwise, we do need some eggs, so we could have a walk to the local Chicken farm. This usually uses up an hour or so.

Quiet day planned though, I have also decided to not spend ANYTHING next week, except the usual budgeted food / diesel etc. Have slightly slipped back into my old "popping into town for something" habit  which ends up with me spending over £10 each time on stuff I convince myself I desperately need, BUT DON'T

Ok enough waffling, have a great Sunday everyone xxx

    mrs-mix :hello:

Well DD, was ok yesterday, spent the day on the sofa, not doing or eating much, so hopefully she will be a bit more perky today. Upstairs is lovely and clean, so today will tackle downstairs. I also want to get back into the garden, and maybe cut the grass - although it has been cold, the weather has been lovely and im finally getting things done out there, so want to keep it up so it doesnt slip back to its old state again!!!

Having freezer surprise roast again today (the last one, so not a surprise, its sliced chicken in gravey) so just need to make the roasties and steam the veg - will also be putting the BM on, and my bedding is already in the WM (didnt get it done yesterday, although did re make the bed with spare bedding!!) I will be tempted to re make the bed again tonight - i love fresh bedding, especially when its been dried outside, i know its more work, but will be worth it!!

OK, need to get moving - hope everyone is well, have a wonderful Sunday,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
