  • It never occured to me to do this gentlepurr, but if the clothes give out in such a short space of time why not?

Why don't they just make them better quality? Do you ever have any problems getting your money back?

    hi thriftlady,

never had a problem taking anything back. if you are pleasant and explain things honestly, most shops with the reputation of woolies or tesco's or school uniform shops will agree that the quality should be expected to be better.

If your fridge or freezer seal is split, take it out and turn it around so the split will be at the bottom and you can get a little more use out of it until you can afford to buy new again.

Not sure if it's really a 'tip' but when I buy any fresh veg especially large reduced bags, I autmatically wash and chop them, bag them up portion size and freeze, that way I know they my bargains won't go to waste and I can use them as and when needed.

    Simple but effective.....

Squash the loo roll before you put it onto the holder. This way the looroll wont move so easily and therfor you (or your children) wont unravel several feet of paper by accident!

I've always done this in the caravan to stop it unravelling when I tow it, but never thought about it at home.
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.

    What a great thread!

Loads of tips there I already do, but have picked up a few new ones now :D (Especially the loo roll one!) :rotfl:

I use baby wipes for everything - even dusting. I buy the Tesco's own brand unfragranced ones (not the very cheapest - next ones up)

I store tins, baked beans for example upside down in the cupboard. That way when you open the top of the tin, the beans aren't in a clump at the bottom causing you to have to scoop them out.

me too they are fab,esp for a quick clean of the kids trainers and we even use them on our leather sofa ! they work just as well as the "leather wipes" you can get and much much cheaper !

we keep a pack upstairs ,downstairs and in each car lol

I used to be a sucker for all the lil wipes that did different jobs :o dont shout i am learning ............. slowly :o :rotfl:

Just wondering do you blanch the veg. before you freeze it. I bought about 5kg carrots on half price special and would just like to freeze them. Any suggestions?

A lot of people have posted tips about babywipes and how useful/versatile they are. My tip is that you can either buy (or make) reuseable washable wipes. I bought these for nappy changes, but they become useful for everything, dusting, wiping hands/fingers/faces/furniture, cleaning etc etc.

I have two smallish tupperware tubs (about half the size of a johnsons baby wipe packet) which I keep wet wipes in (one upstairs and one in my bag). To make them into wet wipes, just add water to the tub, then any nice smelly or essential oils you fancy, stir it up a little and then chuck in a load of screwed up wipes (they're only small) till you have the right level of wetness for you.

I always have mine really wet, but then squeeze out the excess before use.

Chuck them in with your towels when you do your washing.

This one saves loads of money (how expensive are wipes these days!!!) and is good for people with sensitive skin etc, means you can have wipes in the scent you want and are good for the enviroment!
How do you make reusable baby wipes? i.e. material? or where can you buy them?
