But I DO know my hifi.
Not from the comments you've made so far.
And an engineer would know the difference between someone who holds a degree in Electronic, Electrical or Electronic and Electrical Engineering and an "electrician". So something just really doesn't add up for me."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Thats fair enough (i hope!)
Im currently a programmer/machinist (as in complex 'macro' programming, not simple every day shop floor programming)
So not an engineer then."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

You claimed to be an engineer. Turns out you're not. I clarified that. You resort to abuse. Says it all."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Sorry, but I agree with Superscraper. Unless someone holds a degree in engineering or is a member of a professional body (in my case, I'm a Member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology and registered with the Engineering Council) then I wouldn't call them an engineer either.0 -
I'm off to find the cheapest phono to mini-jack cable I can to connect my iMac and my ancient Pioneer A400.
Back soon!

Excellent, he pretends to be an engineer, gets found out, then starts calling people names.

What we really need is something that can compare the raw bitstream at both ends of a cable, to prove that both streams are bit-identical.
Until then, only people who can apply logic and reasoning can understand the situation.
I'm sure mr cryogenically-frozen-plug will still claim to be able to see/hear the difference, mind you. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
The Gadget Show did a test a few months ago where they got two identical TVs, two identical BluRay players and two identical BluRay disks (you get the idea).
One was connected with a £15 HDMI cable, the other with a £150 HDMI cable.
Not surprisingly, no one could tell the difference between the two. Both pictures were identical.0
