    Hi
Well recieved my papers from court today and they seem quite straight forward. I did take a look at them on line a few days ago.
There is one thing I am not sure about which is about taking my statement of affairs to be sworn by a solictor do I have to do that before I go to court ?

    Thanks Hev
  • Hi Hev

I went BR last Wednesday:) The whole going to court thing wasn't so bad, not nearly as bad as worrying about it and sorting out all my paperwork!

I filled in the forms online and printed them off and signed them. On the day, took the forms with me as they were and a very kind clerk checked through them and there were are few minor things I needed to change/add. Once she was happy then she instrusted me to swear an affadavit in front of her, for which I chose a non-religious text.

Good luck with you BR journey, it gets easier:)

Thanks Debtee I think it helps a great deal when you hear so many people who have been through this ordeal and say it wasnt as bad as it seems. That is what I worry about the court ordeal.

  • Hev, in my experience, going to court was the easiest bit of the whole process. I got myself worked up into a right state about it but it was absolutely fine. The court staff were lovely; helpful, polite and compassionate and the Judge was kind, understanding and very 'human' ;)

  • Hi there

I have oustanding debts I have been paying of for some years now, I tool 2 heavty loans for property investing of which diddnt turn out as I planned and now have a loan from HSBC - £17000 and EGG - £18000, I also have a marbles card with £2000 left on it and now being chased by a smile acount I opened up last year and completely forgot I had, that has set me back £700 and they are constantly chasing payment. A year in a half ago I spoke to a company called Sterling Green a debt management company who took the worry away for me and took on board the EGG/HSB/Marbles and made me monthly outgoings of £290(11 years), now I say they take the stress away but I get the letters coming through the post now saying they will send baliffs around so they arent working as well as I thought and they avoid my calls, I earn £1300 a month of which £900 goes to my ex to support the kids and also to make sure they have a roof over there heads, pays the motgage(a house we still have joint mortgage with and hoping the house will be sold soon to make some money) then you take away the £290 leaves me with £110.00 that has to pay insurance on my car, petrol and shopping clothing and lodgings etc, I am struggling big time and open to any suggestions, I would love to clear this debt off asap, im hitting a brick wall and wonder if declaring bankrupt is teh best option, my age worries me though ....

Hi well I am getting organised I have just submitted my papers to the court on line got three copys of them all and have got all the relavent documents that I need to take with me to court.
Do I have to sign and date the documents before I go to court or when I get there in front of the clerk ?

Monday is the day I phone the court for the date, getting a bit jittery now.
