Bankrupt

Hi
I am going to have to go bankrupt after consulting with the C.A.B.

I have a debt of £10,000 to egg credit card and £1300 to argos card.
My husband died suddenly last september and that is why I am in this mess.

I have been reading through some of the threads and it doesn't seem quite so scary as I first thought.

The only thing is can anyone tell me if the court (when I file for bankruptsy ) send in the bailiff and if so what can they take. I dont have anything of any value and I am in a H.A. bungalow so I know I won't loose my home, just worried about the furniture.

Hev:confused:

They don't send in bailiffs, and all your household goods should be safe.

The only assets in your home they they could possibly be interested in are items that would fetch a good price at auction, so unless you have expensive antiques or other items worth £1000's then you have nothing to be concerned about.

I think you should mention the card, but unless you have a large amount of money on it then I don't see the problem. My OR told me that aslong as I tell the bank i'm bankrupt then that is fine with him, he said he is just interested in my financial affairs as such. Pre-Paid are credit check free, so you are fine to have one, you just might want to clear it out before bankruptcy and use any money as living expenses.

    Sorry about your husband x

I went bankrupt in December and it honestly has been no-where near as bad as I thought. I filled in the forms online through the Insolvency website and printed them off for the court date. I didn't have to see the judge (although some do) and was all done within a couple of hours. Dealt by a lovely lady at the court who was very nice, as most storys on here say the courts are very nice to you.

2 months on, I can honestly say my life is so much easier...

best of luck with it, and as Tiger said, we are all here to help you with forms etc x
