Yes, just grate, shove in a bag and freeze. If you slice, you might need to put clingfilm between the slices to stop them sticking together.

Yes, Maz6, you can freeze cheese. I usually grate mine before freezing, so when you see offers in the supermarket go for it!
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

Thanks for the advice guys - best get the grater out!
The best things in life aren't things.
  • I grate my cheese too before freezing. A nice alternative to a regular cheese sarnie is to heat up a non-stick frying pan and add a flour tortilla, sprinkle over grated cheese and some spring onion, add another tortilla on top and once the cheese has melted flip it over to brown both sides - yummy.:j

I grate some and slice some for the freezer. If you shake the slices about a bit after an hour or so in the freezer, they won't stick together.

Cheese sandwhiches freeze really well too. If you get them out in the morning they will usually be chilled but defrosted at lunchtime. Or get them out the night before, if you want to defrost them in a fridge.

Don't put lettuce in them though, cos it goes manky.

I think we should lobby the supermarkets not to pack their cheese all in almost identically sized packs.

It annoys me greatly (grately, lol) that I can't buy a small piece to cover my immediate requirements, but have to worry about using it up before it goes mouldy. It shouldn't be beyond their wit and wisdom to realise that different sizes would be helpful to families, couples or single people, rather than their current "one size fits all" policy.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D
