    Hi shez,

Yes you can, I freeze cheese all the time, although I think hard cheese freezes better than soft cheese. I like to grate cheese in batches to save time and washing up and keep it in the freezer so I can lift some out when I need it in a hurry.

  • Hello!

Around this time last year, I received a 14lb block of mature cheddar cheese for free!

I froze some of it, and it was fine. It has a slightly different texture, so it is probably better for cooking - although my cheese was okay still for sandwiches. Wrap small 1/2 lb pieces in lots of clingfilm, and stick them in a bag before putting in the freezer.

Soft cheese as in cottage cheese or philly style cheese? I've never seen philly reduced in any supermarket only cottage cheese.

I'll be on the lookout cause I love both cottage and philly!

I have some in my freezer at the moment!!!! Just put it straight in, in the tub i bought it. Does need to be used quickly once its defrosted tho, and is a bit more watered down.
  • I've made some from homemade cream cheese (yoghurt cheese but use it just like cream cheese), could I freeze that too?
