I'm a veggie, the girls aren't but they eat veggie at home and I could do with ideas for different meals that I can cook, as at the moment quorn and I are bessie mates and it's getting a bit boring. I have a bread maker and can cook pretty decently. The girls wont eat cauliflower cheese or omlette, but thats about all they wont eat.

Sunday was: Gammon and leek pie - left over roast gammon chopped up, stir-fried leeks, sweetcorn, peas and mashed potato, then all mixed together and some grated cheddar sprinkled on top and whacked in the oven until brown..yum yum! :)
Monday: Chicken gammon and broccoli pasta bake
Tuesday: Curried parsnip soup, bread, cheese
    Wednesday: Chilli beef enchiladas

  • hi all

well ive just realised that next week we have a few more bills to pay than normal ( one of them being a dress i bought off ebay.. by accident  )

so ive been putting together my meal plan. .and then i put it into the asda website but with my nappies and wipes etc its coming to £41 when i could really do with it being around the £20 - £30 mark

i dont really have a lot in my store cupboards because i tend to just buy in weekly so i can keep on top of our food budget

would anyone be able to help me

i still want us to have nice teas.. if just a little cheaper than normal !!!

Hi there..off the top of my head :p
    • Pasta bake -can be great for using up bits n bobs -plus very tasty
    • Layers of potatoes n onions in the oven with a little stock -and you can always put sausages on top, or corned beef in the middle layer
    • home made pizza or tortilla -verrrry easy to do
    • roast chicken dinner -plus extra meat leftover to fill the tortillas or make a pie etc
How many are you feeding? and what sorts of things do you like? we may be able to come up with more :D

I like to make a big pan of fried rice full of vegetables, mushrooms, left over chicken, anything in fact. I boil the rice first, let it cool in the fridge, don't leave cooked rice lying around too long. Cooling it helps to seperate the grains.

In a big frying pan or wok, add some oil, beat the eggs and cook, chop them up and put aside while you soften your vegetables and cook mushrooms in the pan then add the cooled rice and just heat through, add the egg at the end and mix in to heat through.

We sometimes serve it with either soy sauce or sweet chilli sauce
