  • Hi Art - Nice to see you had enough fun to get a hangover! Sounds like at least you get to use the internet at work - I have to wait until I get home. My job is not that thrilling and it is very tiring - but it seems to be what I've ended up doing!

My job path has been pretty boring - I wanted to be a french teacher - and when I was 18 I spent a year in Paris working as an au-pair. then I had a job lined up working in a hotel in a Swiss ski-resort and my parents got heavy with me and said I had to get a proper job. So I started training to be a nurse - tried to leave once a year until I finally got depressed in my third year and was allowed to leave. Went to work in an office as a clerk - then eventually did typing and shorthand and went to be a medical secretary - got married, got divorced - tried going to university - got pregnant and became a single parent - went back to college and did an HNC in IT (before Windows - can you imagine????) but got a job working as a post clerk with the fire service - studied Shiatsu and worked as a self-employed shiatsu therapist for 8 years - never made enough money, ended up doing support work for people with learning difficulties because I had a friend who recommended me - and kind of got stuck doing that. I am now doing a part-time degree at college - Health & Community Studies. And - do you know - I still wish I'd been a french teacher.

The point of me telling you that is, that, whatever your real interests are - where your heart lies, what excites you etc - take note and try and develop your life in that direction.

Connexions is a government department to support young people 17-25 yrs old in work, education and employment. I realise that probably doesn't sound very interesting - but there are all sorts of pots of money available for people to study, start their own businesses, do foreign exchanges, learn skills etc and you are just the right age to get something from them if they have something you want. They can open doors for you if you knock. They would help you try to find what you might enjoy doing for example. You should be able to find out where it is by searching on your local council's website - or google Connexions in your area.
    Hope this gets you thinking.

PS I am very worried about myself - I am listening to Radio 2!!!:o How sad is that?
Debt free by 22 January 2009 - thanks to an unexpected inheritance - take heart - it DOES HAPPEN!

Radio 2 is alright, I prefer it to radio 1 most the time. Local radio does me head in.

I do get internet access but i keep getting caught. whhooops.

I might look into that connextions. If I have it available to me it might be an option.

I also might go to the doctors, im going to give it a think next week. I want to be in the best frame of mind when job hunting.

I enjoyed reading about your life so far, I dont think you should have any regrets though. Just look forward to the future and fix what isnt right. well try.
