Daily Thread for 13th February 08

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 13th February.. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all

Dunno about anybody else but it's freezing here!

Sorry, I haven't read yesterday's thread but I hope that everyone is as well and as happy as they can be.

There is no news from SnowyOwlLand so I won't keep you a second longer.

Happy Wednesday everyone

Snowy

Morning SNOWY and all who follow. I'm another one who hasn't read yesterday's thread. My DH had the day off - he's finished one job and doesn't start another one until tomorrow so he thought it was a brilliant day to go through all his business stationery and design some new letter headings and business cards (or, I should say, he thought it was a good idea if I did it because he doesn't know one end of a computer from the other!). It was the usual case of 'can you just....?' He thinks everything takes about five minutes to do. Anyway, we've designed something we both like and have printed some off. We used to order from a professional printer but, every time we moved house, we ended up with loads of unused stuff; this way, we can print off just what we need, when we need it.

Today's plan is to do some basic housework, some office work and visit the gym this morning and I have my DGS coming round for tea after school. I hope this great weather continues - I can't believe I went out without a coat yesterday and it's still February. It actually had a feel of spring in the air. It will be such a shock to go back to cold weather - hope it doesn't happen!

Well, not much to say so will call back later. Hope everyone has a good day. I'lll try and catch up with yesterday's thread later.

  • Morning Snowy and all who follow ,well I am up early this morning as my youngest DD is arriving at 7.30.a.m. to cart me off to Maidstone Hospital where they are going to put a groshon line into my chest to make it easier to give me the chemo. Because my veins keep 'blowing' it's apparently like having a little tap there that they can simply plug you into. I am not relishing the prospect of yet more surgery ,even though it's fairly minor, and I'm dying for a cuppa at the moment but I'm sure it will be to my advantage .
My hair is rapidly becoming a thing of the past and it's now a case of 'Mr Sheen' instead of 'Head and Shoulders' lol, still I guess I am saving money on the hairdressers and shampoos and conditioners at least. I had a great day at craft yesterday and we did some nice cards for Easter, I can't believe it's only next month, it hardly seems time since I put the decorations away. If I feel up to it I have my friend coming to see me on Friday and she is taking me out to lunch at Herne Bay for the afternoon.I hope the weather will stay dry for that .I love Herne Bay it's so 'old-fashioned .I used to have an Uncle who lived there years ago and it hasn't hardly changed in over 60 years .My Mum swore that it had the best air in England as it was so fressh. Mind you, when we visited from the smoky, foggy old streets of London in the late 1940s anywhere was a lot fresher than where we lived
He owned a small-holding and grew the most amazing Strawberries .We would descend on him every year and he would let three small children loose in the fields, and it was heaven. Going back to London on the smelly ,noisy steam train, laden down with fresh fruit and veg was wonderful. When he died in 1950 he had a very large funeral as he was the instigator of a welfare and ex#servicemens club in the town .He had been in the Navy for many years prior to his retirement and always had championed ex-servicemens causes.A smashing old man who always kept me entralled over tales of sailing ships from the late 19th century . he was actually my great-uncle and was as tough as they come ,I discovered when reserching genealogy that he had lots of medals and was quite a character. Still I digress, I must get a wriggle on and get into the shower .The sooner I'm sorted the sooner I can have a nice cuppa .
<<<hugs>>> to those in need and a great big:D to the rest of you .
P.S. it's freezing fog here in North Kent, definitely a day for my 'beanie ' and not my bandana

Morning all. Yep it's freezing down this way too. Frosty and clear.
I am all aches and pains today after shifting several tons of rock and rebuilding my rockery. It looks good now and weed free. But it does mean a few muscles have been used that are not normally used.

Back to work today at 1pm. Looking forward to sitting in the office and not lifting great rocks about.

The garden is beginning to take shape and it's only Feb, so a good start on the year.

Well folks have a nice day.
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

STUDENTGIRL Good luck with your placement, I qualified 12 years ago but I still remember my time as a student as being a real trial.

JACKIEO My Step-Son had a line put in when he had chemo, He found it better than people fiddling around trying to find viens, good luck for today and enjoy Herne Bay.

Hugs to everyone else, have not managed to catch up with the thread.

Am on a late again today so will endeavour to get some studying done this morning. Am getting behind again and I have an essay to hand in on the 6th March. House is not too bad, so will probably quickly hoover and dust. Also need to bake some biscuits. Thick fog here at the mo, so no hanging washing out.

Catch you all later, have a good day.

Brrrrrrr cold.gif It's 0 degrees here and foggy. I was going to introduce the piggies to the garden but that'll have to wait for a warmer day.

I have some work to do at home, apart from that I have no idea what I'm doing :D

Hope you're all ok. Had an interesting day yesterday, someone spoke to me about a new job... Its always about timing I think. I dont enjoy my current job but me and DH are thinking of starting a family sometime this year so I staying there cos I know I'll get maternity leave and all that. I probably wont go back and its an easy job.

BUt this other jobs sounds so much better (but the grass is always greener)
So I'm just going to stay put I think. We might even think about trying for a baby sooner now DH got a payrise of joy.... (waffles on half talking to herself!!)
We've got to get on and finish our house tho first, it is a bit of a mess. So weve got to rush on with that.
