Don't want to hijack your thread but I thought better to post on here than start another. We are looking for a mobile broadband provider but are a bit bamboozled by some of the terminology, etc. This will be predominantly used abroad and I realise that the prices for using mobile broadband abroad are not great but wonder if anyone knows which is the best of a bad bunch for using it abroad. It is really just to make calls using Skype. Although the providers all tell you the price for using it abroad it is in terms of MB usage and I don't know how this equates into using for Skype. Alternatively does anyone have any suggestions of keeping in touch when abroad? Ideally keeping in touch by webcam is our ideal but any other ideas gratefully received!:heart2: Katie & Benjy - I'll meet you at Rainbow Bridge......:heart2:0

Sorry Iv, no idea about usage from abroad.
But, I have ordered the T-mobile thing and it's tracked through Quidco at £73  so, with the reduced 3 months it's paid for 6 months usage. Although Mr Twit will be paying and I'll be pocketing the £73Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
t mobile ons is very good
but at the moment 3G is the best one to buy
but for the future o2 will be the best, as they are buying loads of wifi spots(clouds wifi i think) to keep the consistant speed they promised, so by next year o2 will be the best....figers crossed
it all depends on what you want really0 -
Ok, stupid question time.....
If I want to go with a certain provider for mobile broadband, do I need to sign up to one of their phone contracts?
I have a Virgin PAYG at the moment. If I see a good deal on Quidco, there is no point in signing up until I get a phone deal first of all with that provider?0 -

Hi, can you give me details of the 3 reduced months please? All I can find is this http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/mobile-broadband/data-plans/pay-monthly/mobile-broadband-laptop/plans/0 -
The T-Mobile plan where you get 3 months reduced price is a 24 month contract.
The Vodafone one is 12 month so I'd go for that one.0 -
Hi Gemma / Norbie
If it helps, I did my research/comparison on mobile broadband at a Radio 2 recommended site aswell as here - it was http://www.broadbandinternetuk.com/mobile_broadband.asp0 -
Hi Guys
I have bought a laptop for when i am away from home. I wont need a great amount of download and wont need that much time but i will need broadband connection so am trying to find aPAYG offer on broadband. I also need a usb thing too.
If anyone knows any good deal or any loopholes that might be a better offer i would be very grateful.

I have virgin broadband at present and have no problem at all its just that with saving costs and the fact that my land line is used purely for this I was looking at having mobile as a cheaper option. I am just in the process of seeing how much I use the net so I can work out which one is best for me but in principal are they as good as land based service providers?
Someone I know about 10 miles from me has 3 mobile and has no problems whatsoever with speed , connection etc but she is the only person I know who has it and wanted to get others opinions before signing myself into a contract0 -
we have one that my husband uses his is 3gb I think but he never reaches that limit each month.
If you go onto 3s website and search for usage calculator, you can type in all the things you do online and see what sort of tarrifs they have.0
