What's the best "OTR" price you have negotiated for a new Toyota Aygo?

Update:
Placed an order this morning for a new 08 reg Aygo Platinum with air conditioning - list price £8745, managed to secure it for £8135 plus a full tank of petrol. A massive saving of £610!!!
:T
Many thanks to the MSE article on buying a new car and for hints and tips picked up along the way in various forums.
FAO Kez100: didn't opt for the blue in the end - the dealer talked me out of it saying they weren't shifting them very quickly, and it wasn't as good a deal as the Platinum (obviously the base model and the plus are cheaper, just depends what specs you're after). When I asked about the blue interior bits and pieces, his choice of phrase was "it's all down to individual taste, but personally I think it's a bit much" so I steered clear after that!!0 -
What a turn around! I *think* we have decided to go with the Blue! LOL! Mind you, it's £500 cheaper for us as we would have paid for A/C on the Platinum. The blue we were given a picture of and its metallic not plastic blue, if you know what I mean. Still, the Platinum in lovely. Classy. We haven't actually ordered yet but are awaiting a price to change.
Great deal. Is that with the 0% finance as well?0 -
Yup, 0% finance: decided to only use part of the cash for the deposit rather than buy it outright. Our repayments are the same as what we were previously paying on our other car loan which has finished now so we won't feel the pinch, and instead have the rest of the cash to clear the majority of the credit card (which we're throwing large chunks of money at each month anyway so that'll be all gone before you can say, "Martin Lewis is a life-saver!")
It's funny, because if I'd gone for the blue, I'd have paid an extra £500 for the style pack because I wanted alloys (well, let me correct that, my OH wanted alloys!) I guess they had to make both models much-of-a-muchness to be able to shift them.
By-the-way, when haggling, I just told them outright that I'd seen the same car I wanted elsewhere for the price that I got it for in the end, and asked him quite plainly if he could match it. That was on Thursday evening, and we walked away, saying we'd have to think about it and do the sums (at this point he hadn't promised to be able to give us that much money off, reiterating the usual schpeel about Toyota not normally giving much money off, etc. etc.!) but before we left we made an appointment with him on the Saturday, so he knew we were coming back (which afterwards made me wonder if that put us in a weaker position??). Then when we went back, we asked if he could get us that discount, and also asked for a couple of years free servicing, so he went off to "ask the general manager", came back after about 10-15mins and said if he gave us that £610 off, then he couldn't do much else. So my OH simply asked if that was OTR price and reeled off all the usual stuff (you know, Tax, RFL, which we knew were included) and added, "and a full tank of petrol?" to which the guy shook his head and said no he couldn't do that, so my OH just said if you can do that too, then I'll sign right here and now, so off he went to ask the GM again, and came back a few minutes later, shook our hands and that was that!
Moral of the story: it pays to play hard-ball! I never thought I'd ever get that much off a Toyota.
Sorry, that was a bit long-winded! But I thought it might help to show others how we haggled. Good luck to you too, and please do let me know how you got on!!

Thank you.
I'll report back!
Alloys are something I don't like I'd pay to have normal! The only thing about me that makes me one in a million!0 -
Kes, I hope I am not stating the obvious, but don't be tempted to buy a " 57 " plate new one, wait for the 08 ones, they will hold their value slightly better.
Good luck with whatever you choose.;)0 -
Thanks. No worries, I am on the ball. It's an 08 plate I'm waiting for. I'm asking for a deal between 1/3 (new reg) and 31/3 (end of 0% finance).
TBH I'd be happy with an 07 plate if only they would sensibly drop and I would be better off - as one usually is with a used car. Problem appears to be - no finance (got to be worth 500 in mortgage offset savings), ability to nab 600 plus fuel off a new one, 500 of worthehile free extras on the new plus full warranty). At the moment 6 month new are coming in at less than a thousand lower. There will be an equilibrium in the market at some point - either no 0% finance onnew or second hand reduces more. Will have to be to shift second hand once there are plenty about.
At the moment though - new seems the better deal, by far. Let's see if I can talk the talk.0 -
There is another small advantage with " New " over " Nearly New " ( pre-registered )?, insurance companies provide a new replacement car if you are the first owner, but not if you are the second owner, for the first year of the cars life.0

I didn't know that. Thanks.0

Bagged the same deal as tryinhard and a reasonable P/E too.0
