Just bought a Toyota Aygo Blue version.
    Tried my 2 local dealers.
one would after 2 hours of haggling would knock £190 off the price.

Then the other dealer would knock £300 and chuck in Parking senors as well and that was after 1 Hour of talking.

Just waiting till 5th Mach for it!

    Thanks for that!

That's quite a lot of haggling for £190. Glad the other was more helpful - there's hope! How did you broach (sp?!) the subject of additional options at no charge? And also, is the delivery time usually that long for a new car (I know it's only really two weeks away, but you know what I mean!!)?

    Thanks

Right, I think we're getting slightly off tack here: the title of this thread asks for examples of what people have managed to bag an Aygo for.

While I do appreciate your advice on how to save money, thank you, let's get back to the original point of this thread!

Also, as for the point of my user ID: trying to save money on a more expensive model of car follows exactly the same principle as trying to save money on a lower model. It is still money saving. To be a money saver does not necessarily mean spending as little as possible all the time - quality still counts for a lot. Can't we keep this friendly, please?!

    Thanks
    thtstp

The other posts are useful and do have an underlying truth - even if their method of expression leaves a lot to be desired! We have now looked at the 107 and C1 and, by far, prefer the Aygo style. I'm sure many others will follow our feeling once a second hand market is established and that will eep our model depreciation a bit lower.

Following your link I found drivethedeal will knock of 1300 if you take dealer finance (not 0%) or 800 if you don't take their finance. That was for a 5dr Platinum plus AC.

I think your thread would be rather short and end up on page 2 very quickly if it wasn't for other people posting helpful (but off topic) comments. So far you have had 2 posters on topic and another in the same boat as you.

BTW, what model/derivative are you after? And what is the listprice?

I'm looking at the Platinum 5 door with Air Conditioning and protection pack. Listprice, I think, 8245 plus Air Con 500 and protection pack - mudflaps and mats essentially 140 - £8885 with 0% 3 year finance available (30% deposit required).

Securing the 0% finance saves me 6.14% on my mortgage offset savings.

I would also quite like the Samsonite travel package (luggage that is made to fit in the terribly small boot), the roof bars and bike rack. Off to find out what extortionate cost they would be if I paid for them...be right back...

I think the finance deal runs out on 31st March. Is that to get our business for a model that will, effectively, be an old one - hence worth even less - as soon as the 08 plates come out on 1st April?

Is that the 1.0 petrol or 1.4 diesel you are interested in?

If you don't mind the badge difference try a Citroen or Peugeot, identical cars, same factory.;)

We priced all three for the spec we wanted and the Aygo was the cheapest - only the poverty specs were identical. Pug only did two models - poverty spec or everything spec (therfore expensive), Citroen did three, but you needed to buy the dearest one to get aircon as an option.

    1.0 petrol.

The luggage kit is 175! I'd rather like it....but only if it costs me tuppence ha'penny! The bike rack and bars however will save me money as I cycle every Sunday and without them I shall have to use my 25mpg second vehicle to get to our starting point. I can't find a price for them but I would rather like those for free too! Another option I'd be delighted to have is the bluetooth.

I assume extras cost a dealer far less.....am I better dealing in extras (that I want) rather than cash discounts?

Well I was going to suggest you look into buying from Netherlands, as they have high car duty overthere. But on looking I have discovered that they now have a duty banding system based on emmissions, and as your Aygo is in band "A" for the petrol, the duty payable is very similar to our VAT rate.
    http://data.toyota.nl aygo prices pdf

A basic list price - basic models imorted into the UK.
The price below includes UK VAT i.e. the price you would pay

    Aygo 3 doors
    1.0 12V....................£6,159
    1.0 12V +.................£6,800
    1.0 12V SPORT..........£7,700
    1.4 D +....................£8,040

    Aygo 5 doors
    1.0 12V....................£6,315
    1.0 12V +.................£6,957
    1.0 12V SPORT..........£7,860
    1.4 D +....................£8,200

I have no idea how those prices compare with UK, and it will be important to double check all the standard items are the same and how much extra they will cost should you want them. There will also be DVLA registration fee and road tax - which might be included in the UK list price. It might also be included in the Dutch list price in which case you could get it knocked off the Dutch price.

Thanks a lot for the work involved in doing that for me. It probably won't be worth my while as I live about as far away as it is humanly possible from any Dutch ferry and I have a pretty good business of my own, so it's also probably not worth taking the time off.
