What's the best "OTR" price you have negotiated for a new Toyota Aygo?

1.0 petrol.
The luggage kit is 175! I'd rather like it....but only if it costs me tuppence ha'penny! The bike rack and bars however will save me money as I cycle every Sunday and without them I shall have to use my 25mpg second vehicle to get to our starting point. I can't find a price for them but I would rather like those for free too! Another option I'd be delighted to have is the bluetooth.
I assume extras cost a dealer far less.....am I better dealing in extras (that I want) rather than cash discounts?
Have you thought about the Blue? Since it comes with bluetooth and air con as standard (same price as platinum at 8245) but if you really wanted alloys you could add the style pack at 500. Or try and haggle that down in price?
I don't see why you couldn't try and ask for the travel set or roof bars thrown in - they probably wouldn't give you both (although you don't know until you try!). Just be really hard-nosed, stick to your guns and be prepared to walk away if they won't budge. Someone will (at least to some extent - from what I've been reading, it's hard to get much knocked off a Toyota).
Be sure to let us know how you get on!

Also, as for the point of my user ID: trying to save money on a more expensive model of car follows exactly the same principle as trying to save money on a lower model. It is still money saving. To be a money saver does not necessarily mean spending as little as possible all the time - quality still counts for a lot. Can't we keep this friendly, please?!
Thanks

Sorry, I obviously mis-understood your UserID, it reads " Trying hard to save the pennies " to me, there is no difference in the actual quality of a lower spec car from the same range, hence my helpful advice.
I also could not help but notice your signature, which gave me the impression that you may well be glad of saving a few pennies.
Obviously I was wrong, so I will leave you to spend your pennies as you see fit.
Good luck with your purchase..0 -

It does seem a little OTT when someone who owes nearly £8500 is looking to buy a new car, maybe they would be better off paying their debts off first, still it takes all sorts.:rolleyes:0 -

What has worried me a bit is the 3 cylinder is boosted with turbo and I don't know how good turbo in a petrol engine is. However, I do like the amazing fuel economy, low insurance group and low rfl and the price!
Can I also add to what others have said. What car do you currently drive? I doubt the savings on fuel, rfl and insurance will outweigh the finance per month unless you presently drive a very, very thirsty motor. You are not reducing your debts by very much each month and it's likely with a new car on even 0% finance your ability to continue to reduce your present debts will be severely compromised.0 -

Why? It does 0-60 in a reasonable time, is nippy to 40 (which is what urban motoring is all about), does nearly 100 mph and will bowl along at motorway speeds all day, does 45 mpg as a minimum, costs £35 a year to tax and £100 to service. It's also well proven techonology having been fitted to the Yaris since they were introduced - a colleague has two sons both of whom ran 1.0l Yaris' to over 100,000 miles with no problems.
All seems positive to me.
BTW the Aygo is our 4th 3 cylinder car!0 -
I think you will find that the Daihatsu Sirion has the same engine, same fuel consumption, more room, 5 doors, 5 year warranty, same low road tax and can be had for £6995 OTR with Air Con and 4 electric windows, 4 air bags.
Part of Toyota Group of companies.
It may be worth consideration.0 -

Could do, you're right. However, need a second car. Sold our other car to buy a cheaper-to-run one. Have cash to pay for the new car outright, or clear the debt (which, by-the-way, is all 0% and will be cleared before the year is out) and take the car on finance. Either way, financial situation looking much rosier than my sig implies. But of course, you would argue differently wouldn't you?! Silly me, what would I know, eh?
I don't post on here to be judged by people like you, however, after these blatantly unfriendly attacks from yourself and mr 'inactive', I am going to remove my SoA from my sig - i put it there as a member of the DFW club. Can I kindly remind you of Forum Etiquette that asks you to "pls be nice to all MoneySavers"????
If you have nothing helpful to say, keep it to yourself.0 -
I see the Toyota website is by far the best at giving you pictures of the car.
Peugeot gives a couple of pics and
Citroen (the worst) gives you 2 small pics, (that I could find easily).
However, from the pics I have seen the French 2 are essentially the same car in all respects. The Toyota has a different front bumper, bonnet,.headlamps, rear door, rear wing, rear bumper. but is the same in other externals like rear hatch, front wing.
The inside is the same on all 3, same dash, same seats.
I can tell you that you can pick up a 1 year,6month - 1year,10 month (2006 '06/'56) old pug / toyota with 4K -5K miles for about 5300 - 5400 including fees at auction
And there is a pug 1.2 Sport XS red 6K miles 2007 '07 <<< I think that is a mistake 1.2 engine, the XS sport 1.0 has the same mpg as the other cars, and is in ins grp 1, alloy wheels, leather steering wheel & black cloth as standard & go faster stripes.
New price 8,300
auction price 6,300 inc fees
