Asda are pretty awful - their staff instore seem to have made a career choice not to be helpful, their fresh food is always of dubious quality and their deliveries are unreliable.

I wouldn't shop there if they paid me!

    Lin :(
You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)
  • I must admit I would have done it all through the insurance - was there any benefit to you of it being handled in house?

Re the vouchers, I suppose they could have given you some, but if it had been, say, an accident on the road outside your house and any other company's vehicle had hit your car I doubt you would have been given vouchers/cash to say sorry as well as it being sorted out. I wouldn't have been worried about Tesco's insurance premiums -that's their problem - I'd have insisted it went through the insurance - unless there was some worthwhile advantage/benefit for me.

We were trying to cause as little hassle as possible.....but that's what you get when your trying to do things amicably! And no would not have gotten recompense if another car hit us, but no-one has even said sorry and it has really peed me off! If they had apologised in the first instance I probably would not have taken any further action.
  • i was stood in asda queue for music & video 3 weeks ago and a guy was wanting to return a 47inch plasma for refund and there was just a radiator in the box, after a long argument the asda manager got his £695 refund and a £50 voucher ''i was gobsmacked'' he did not even have a reciept

perhaps asda should of given you the vouchers instead of sorting out the car - would of been more happy ;)

Good idea, but the damage is costng £460 to repair:eek:
  • Update: just called head office, they called the store.....now I've complained they are willing to offer me £25 giftcard. I'm a happy bunny, I wouldn't have asked for anything if somebody had actually apologised in the first place!

I was in our Runcorn store earlier this week at around 4.30 pm. As usual at this time of day the place looked like a bomb had hit it, and on an otherwise empty shelf where eggs would have been if they had been kept re-stocked there were a few packs of eggs sealed in plastic wrappers with the "woops" label on. The price had been reduced by a few pence.

Without ripping the wrapper off it was impossible to know what was inside.... so I did. There were 5 eggs, one of which was broken and the pack was soaked.

So 4 eggs for 20p off, scam or what?

And if you are reading this Asda, next time I see this I won't post here I will go to Trading Standards.

    David.

So, they are sorting it out, which is great, but I asked them about getting some vouchers as way of an apology and they have said that as they are sorting the work out they don't feel it is appropiate.....now, my point is, that they would not have had to pay anything out if the man pushing the trolleys was watching what he was doing. Do you think I'm being unreasonable?

Yes. If I crashed a trolley into your car and offered to pay for the damage would you expect anything else out of me? I doubt it. So, why Asda? Oh, because they've got lots of money and vouchers!

As for your "point"...Asda wouldn't have had to pay anything out if the man pushing the trolley was watching what he was doing and therefore you feel that's grounds for "compensation" to you in the form of a voucher? There is no logic to that argument.

If Asda wanted to offer you a voucher as a goodwill gesture (would have made sense!!) then great. But, you seriously can't expect more than them rectifying the situation!

Steer clear of Asda. I only used them a handful of times before I swore I would never use them again, the last straw was having a slot booked, 6-8 the night before halloween last year, ready for a halloween party, for them to email at 8.30 and say my order had been cancelled. Had a phone call half hour later telling me there wasn't enough vans and they couldnt discover that earlier??? I had to wait for a refund. Then I gave them a chance 3 weeks ago. Still waiting for the £16,47 worth of missing items to be refunded, they "say" they have done it twice, this is now the third time. I only used them as they do a few things nowhere else does and they are cheaper...but I would have saved money going to Sainsburys or Tesco. At least I have never had a major problem with them and if HO refunds its usually in the next working day.
They are always polite on the phone but that doesn't do anything to help.

to the comment about coke, I once had no bread as it was unavailable...I found that amusing. It wasn't friday night or over the w/e. I am sure they had some white bread lol. And I have had shower gel substituted with shaving gel. *shakes head*
  • ASDA online exclusive insurance. Shambolic, and verging on dishonest!
I wish I had read the online reviews first. they score just 1.2 out of 5, in www.reviewcentre.com with 64 reviews stating the same, shambolic and dishonest. Firstly, it seems ASDA has just licensed its name to Southern Rock insurance Ltd, Based in GIBRALTER!! They are not covered by the FSA for starters, and as an offshore insurer, you will not have the same rights should you not get paid or they go insolvent. Which judging by their carry on, and the customer feeback, it wont be long.
Briefly, I got a quote from a price comparison site, Asda were not the cheapest by any means, but due to still being owed money by an off shore insurance co from moons ago, I wanted a name i could trust. I paid £1144.56 in full for cover on our car, and no sooner was it accepted, and the policy issued, a discrepancy was apparently found with the date inputted online for my wifes seat belt fine. They claim, the conviction date was a few weeks later than we had declared. There was no reason on our part for this error, and as it was only a matter of weeks, I assumed they would simply re adjust it. after all we had declared the £60 fine and 3 points. But ASDA requested a further £310.53! they offered no breakdown of this amount, or any evidence that we had actualy stated this date. The terms and conditions simply state ` disclosure of any convictions in the last 5 years` which we complied with. After a flurry of emails and calls, and
as the insurance would have now totalled £1454.87, we obtained a like for like quote for £687 (sheilas wheels) and cancelled, which was within the 14 day cooling of period.
We were advised of a £75 charge, and would also have deducted the time on cover £19.21.
After several letters/emails and telephone calls, we finally had our funds charged back to the card after 56 days. (the terms state no longer than 21) only the amount was for £734.80.
£409.54, for 7 days cover?, and whilst in the cooling off period.
Am I alone?..NO. Is this another inputting error?....well no, apparently its all in the small print. But their own terms and conditions do not state any figures. But here are the charges ASDA later applies. mandatory £75 admin fee, a £242.96 non disclosure fee, and they can`t add up the days on cover, taking almost three times the amount due. Its all very in their favour, and doesnt seem to be doing much for ASDA P.R.
Its all very RyanAir, and seems like stealth tactics to up the premium. Very clever!!
But if you just want hassle free genuine insurance, then ASDA is not the place to go. Imagine what they would be like in the event of a claim?
My family spend £196 p/week on shopping & fuel, over £10k a year, plus Xmas. Not much in the Grand scheme of things, but thats £650k plus if the other disgruntled reviewers on Reviewcentre follow suit and go elsewhere as we have.
