Hiphouse, I think naivity about sums it up - in the main because lots of us considered this to be a friendly chat and forgot about the implications of this being a public forum.
A Guide should never have been mentioned by name, I felt bad about that immediately but there was no point in removing my posts because there were others. This is one of the reasons that I would like this thread removed. However, having said that - it was meant to be harmless fun and a bit of banter.
I think as we were having a friendly chat maybe we feel a bit spied on now - the tone has certainly changed and all the enthusiasm gone. Some people have read this forum (many more than those who have commented) just to see if they can find evidence of cheating. It is unpleasant. If our conversations had occurred in someone's kitchen over coffee no one would know - but they didn't. So I guess we have to take responsibility for that.
I would ask the Mod to remove this thread, and for a new discussion/support thread to be started with clear instructions that ratings or nominations are not to be solicited.0 -

I would have rated it very useful regardless, as it had some great points in it based on user experience and I found the review pleasant to read. I don't need all the technical spec that wasn't included. If I like the sound of the toaster, I will follow it up by checking out a website or a store.
Say what you want, but the tone of the posts and the whole thread around that time weren't particularly nice. I came away from this thread with some not very nice thoughts about some posters based on what was posted a few days ago. Your post at that time never suggests (and still doesn't) that it's tongue-in-cheek, at least, not to me. People have asked that others are added to the friends thing when it appears that people are habitually reading the friends thing daily. (Except they're not... ooops! That bit's actually a lie!) But that isn't a cartel...
Sweetpea32 wrote: »You said in one of your earlier posts that Dooyoo members should be rating more reviews, than they are receiving. How is this supposed to be achieved if it is getting frowned upon by people rating their circle of friends?

Ignore the circle of friends. There. I said it.
Find subjects you want to learn about and read on those topics. Want to learn about a trip to Paris? Read about it. Want to learn about the new Batman film? Read about it. Want to learn about the dooyoo guides? Read ab... you get the picture.
Want advice on any aspect of the site? Ask a guide. Chances are, you'll get better advice from them than you will on here. You don't even have to talk to the cheese guy. Pick another one.

If I was trying to make loads of money from Dooyoo then I would be churning out rubbish reviews in all my spare time to earn 500 points, not relying on others to rate mine for 15 points a time.
I don't think I've levelled any accusations towards anyone directly, though I admit I have thrown around some current theories. I've done so more to point out that for all your cries of innocence on a myriad of topics, chances are someone who pokes their nose in to this thread will come to the same conclusions as others appear to have done. I also hope that you find something useful in what I say. If not, at least you have a list of dooyoo forums. Use those.0 -
It would be nice to use the dooyoo forums, but they're not particularly active.
New, wholly un-cartel-inspired thread, anybody?0 -

So please explain what the point of Circle of Friends is?
I have added people to my list who have written reviews I like.
As the whole point is supposed to be its people I trust, I add people who I personally think have written good reviews and who come across as knowing what they are talking about.
If someone trusts me, I read their reviews and will then choose to add them or not as the case may be.
Is this wrong?
And again, what is the point of Circle of Friends, in YOUR opinion please?0 -

Sadly I fear they aren't particularly active due to previous accusations of cartels being flung at them.
I am willing to bet, however, that there are plenty of private Yahoo/MSN groups or forums where this kind of behaviour goes on :rolleyes:0
