Dooyoo - Get paid to write reviews (Merged thread)

I read a really good review about how the site works, seems like a group called the guides get most of the crowns but there are still loads up for grabs, it is just that the reads do not seem to add much to your earnings.
There do seem to be people who spend all their time picking holes in peoples reviews.0 -
Ive not had anyone pick holes yet, just a guide pointing out that my 1st review was rubbish, so I edited it. Though I have seen some comments that are basically teacher's reports - spelling mistakes pointed out etcISA: £600/3600

I'm on Dooyoo and let me tell you, it's better to write good quality reviews which are highly rated, and good quality rather than lots of 150-200 words reviews which aren't much good. You'll get a better reputation on the site, get more rates from other members and you should also rate widely too, you can pick up tips on what makes a good review there.
Also, its worth remembering that its the Dooyoo people who ultimately decide whether a member gets a payout, which is why your miles are pending for 3 days before they go redeemable. If they think you are churning (writing rubbish just to make money) or your reviews are consistently of a low quality, you won't get your money and might even be removed from the site altogether.
As for the crowns thing, if you consistently nominate each other, it is going to be noticed by the Dooyoo staff and this will cause them to look in how you are rating and nominating across the site. If it is found that this is a Clicking Cartel (which is what it looks like) all users involved run the risk of being removed and having their Dooyoo miles taken away. If you try to cash out after reading this message, they will guess what is going on as I bet 100% they are aware of this thread and read every single post, and will stop your payment going through.
Sites like Dooyoo run on users posting good quality reviews which are helpful to a consumer so anyone trying to trick the system will be stopped.0 -

Hi Chloes,
I have subscribed to ths thread and have received good support from it. My circle of friends consists of some people on here and some that I have come across on the dooyoo website.
I agree with your point that it is better to write good quality reviews rather than rubbish ones. I do have an issue with some people writing pages and pages of stuff on something that can be summed up in 4-5 paragraphs though!
As there is no support forum on dooyoo this is what I view this as. A place where you can chat generally about dooyoo and what are using your points for. For example I am using mine for Xmas presents. However, I only wrote 1 review yesterday because I had nothing else to review (properly).
I think if you read though the whole thread here you will realise that there are some decent people who have clearly stated that they don't want to be part of a clicking cartel and have no intention of nominating people for a crown just for the sake of it.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

I agree, this is not a cartel, or at least not as far as I am concerned. There has been one person up front about doing as many reviews as poss to make money, but the rest of us are doing a couple every now and then and enjoying both the reading and writing. I've already bought a couple of products that I read about on Dooyoo - which is what is it all about in the end isn't it?
I try to return the reads that I get on Dooyoo, whether they are from MSE friends or not, and I also read new reviews from people I have not heard of, that way a larger circle is produced - it would be boring to read the same people all the time.
I resent the suggestion that MSE-ers are responsible for 'churning' (as if no one thought of the idea before) as was claimed in a comment I read this week on Dooyoo. I tend not to want to read reviews which are all "ummm, this is cool, I really like it" - but on the other hand I am also bored by the 2000 word ones which include every piece of info copied from the packaging.0 -

Did you also know that if you get a crown then it is an extra 1,500 miles so suddenly you are getting £2 a review before reads. If we all nominate each others work lots of these should get crowns. This is the first time I have used moneysaving on the forums can't believe I have been missing out so much.0

I feel a bit upset by some of the comments on here. I don't like the intimation that we're all cheats. I generally write one review a day - two if I'm on a roll, but never more than that. And I spend absolutely ages reading and rating other people's reviews. I do rate those of people on here - but I thought there was nothing wrong with rating reviews by people in your circle of friends. I also rate the new reviews - a lot of which are by people I don't know.
I got the impression that the 'community' liked the idea of returning the favour by rating someone who has rated you. Are we now being told this is wrong?
I have only nominated one person for a crown - don't actually remember who it was, just remember the review was about play.com, so that was based entirely on the merits of the review, not the person.
There was one other person who wrote the best review I've read so far and I really wanted to nominate him (again, someone I don't know) but it was already crowned. I assume each review can only earn one crown? Is that right?
I did comment on here about a certain person making what I felt were picky comments - and to be honest it was simply because my feelings were a bit hurt, and someone else had complained about receiving picky comments from the same person - I was using this as a 'comfort and support' forum. Maybe I'm sad, but I do my best, and okay some of my reviews are better than others. I'll try to improve a little with each review. I have put a LOT of time and effort into Dooyoo and sincerely hope we are not now being threatened with no payout just because we 'know' each other here as well as there. I repeat - I rate people I know, but I also rate a lot of people I don't know. And I wouldn't nominate for a crown unless I felt it was deserved. And I certainly don't churn - I have neither the time nor the inclination.0 -
PS I'm not sure that's right about getting 1500 extra points for a crown anyway. I got a crown (woohoo!) but I didn't notice my points jump by that much.0

That's what the rating system is for. I think, in general, people want to see your experience and opinions on a product or service... the stuff the official sources never tell you. If you include this, it shouldn't matter whether your review is 200 or 2000 words. If you think someone ploughs out 2000 for the sake of making their reviews longer and they don't include the information you look for, then rate appropriately.clearmydebts wrote: »As there is no support forum on dooyoo this is what I view this as. I think a few members have set up unofficial, but still quite helpful, forums. Someone on dooyoo is bound to know that the addresses are. Ask some of the long-term members or a guide.clearmydebts wrote: »I think if you read though the whole thread here you will realise that there are some decent people who have clearly stated that they don't want to be part of a clicking cartel and have no intention of nominating people for a crown just for the sake of it.
My overall impression is that people are using this thread for cartel-like behaviour. While it's unsurprising given the parent website here, I think the members tend to view those that are simply out to make money with suspicion. If you are seen as a good member - read and rate well and write decent reviews - but still do well financially, then this is seen as less of a problem (if it's seen as a problem at all).
However, there are many comments on this thread about reading someone's circle of friends and going back to do the same thing tomorrow and other certain behaviour. Why read a review because of who writes it? Why not read a review because of what it reviews? Would you read a review written by someone on this thread because they wrote it, rather than because they could tell you something you wanted to know about?0 -
I was a member of this site long before I read this thread and joined in to be able to add some friends to my profile. Some of the reviews have been brilliant and I'm glad I know you all as I may not have seen them otherwise.
I love reviewing sites because I want peoples honest opinions on products before I buy them and publish my own honest opinions. I have rated my fellow mse'rs honestly whether its useful or very useful and have only nominated one for a crown, I think it was spudtastic as her review was full of info. but not over the top long. Any others I have nominated for a crown are strangers whose reviews I just happen to think were amazing.
As for the money side anyone who thinks this is an easy way to make money must not be putting much into their reviews. A review often takes over 30 minutes to write, including checking prices, colours, ingredients etc. and rereading, editing, spell checking etc. If you add this time to the hours spent rating others reviews I reckon payment is less than 50p an hour.
I think dooyoo is more about providing a service for consumers. The odd £10 voucher for Amazon is nice to treat yourself or for christmas pressies but this is not a paying job.
So if you are in it for easy money I think if you sat down and worked it out - you'll probably realise your time could be better spent on surveys etc.
Last rant - Please do not nominate for crowns or mark reviews highly if they are not. I reckon your account will be closed and you will not be able to get the money out which you have already earned.
