Right, fellow Dooyooers I'm afraid that is me all done now for tonight.I have spent ages rating all my circle of friends tonight, but I know I've still got loads of you to add, so that's tomorrow's job, and I might get some more reviews done. I'm hoping that I won't be too busy at work tomorrow so I can do some then!
Thanks for all the ratings. I go through my circle of friends every day so if I have missed anyone I will pick them up tomorrow.0 -
ok, in my defence, my parents had one when they ran a hotel and i bought mine on ebay and paid with quidco money - cos £100 is a lot of money for a toaster! although to be fair, they are worth it! it's just that i'm a tad tight!
For me, it is the personal stuff that matters in a review, I can find out the tech spec anywhere - I want a personal experience - like a recommendation from a friend.0 -
Night night! I'm off, too. Definitely time for bed!0

i can't believe that i've just had a toaster review dissed! it is absolutely ludicrous! sooo bad that i copy it here for everyone's amusement...
It just goes to show how pitiful my reviews really are!
To be fair, and I haven't read your review so can't comment on what was in it, so have to comment on what that person said wasn't in it.
It sounds like you review may have been just a rewrite of of information gathered from the web, and not written from experience of owning one of these toasters. Apologies if I am wrong.
When people are thinking of buying something, and read reviews, they want to know the things the manufacturer doesn't tell you. Like is it easy to clean, does it get too hot to touch, does it do the toast evenly. My toaster doesn't, I have to have mine set on number three and when the toast pops I turn the slices round and put them in again. Also it is small and many types of bread don't fit it, put in hovis or kingsmill and it only toasts two thirds of the slice.
These are things you can only know buy owning one, and if you do then they are the things you want to tell people, and people want to know.
As a good example, I took back a sandwich toaster tonight, which I bought yesterday. It was bought after reading several reviews saying how good it was. But not one of the reviews mentioned that it was so small the only bread you can use with it is supermarkets own bread value bread. No other type of bread in my local Tesco and Somerfield will fit, they are wall too big.
None of the reviews I read mentioned that even if you only put a slice of ham in the sandwiches, which I did because it was all I had and I wanted to test it, the bread comes out like two slices of pasta. There was only a slice of ham, but the sandwich came out less that a quarter of the thickness it was when it went in!
These are things that potential buyers want to know, and you can only write about if you have one.
I know we only write reviews to make money, and the site only wants them to help it in search results. But the potential buyer wants to know the things only a person who owns one can tell them. They don't want to know what they can find on the makers web site, or any web site that sells the product. They want to know the things only an owner can tell them.
As I said, sorry if your review was written as an owner, but for anyone writing a review I would say try to put in the things people would want to know before they buy a product.
Don't just tell them the cooker is 100cm high, go and measure your units too. Then tell them the cooker is 5cm higher/lower than your "bog standard" units. ( if that is the case).0 -

read the review first!
i've been using one for about 25 years - since I was 10! it was a user review. :rolleyes:My signature has been removed by the authorities. If you have been affected by the issues raised in this signature, please contact the Action Line on 1-800-THEY-NICKED-MY-SIG.0 -

I'm at a disadvantage, not having read the review, but did you really use the toaster for 25 years then write a review of it, and not mention if it makes good toast?
Surely that's the whole point of buying one, isn't it? It's the one thing people want to know before they buy it0
