i don't know about amazon being addictive ..... this site is too! i found the grabbit board so it was useful while i found my password again!

just an update and another question if that's ok?

i've put the vinyl to once side for now, the books were enough and the prices listed for vinyl aren't very helpful unless anyones an expert  or how to package them, but going back to expensive books. if someone lists a book at, for instance, 10 times its value despite its age, is it because its out of print or just rare? and do buyers complain about the disparity between the price on the book and the price charged?

i came across a book the wife had bought on ebay for less than a pound and the nearest price was about £45 !! but they were the american sellers. would £20 be a rip-off?

hang on, 2nd question if anyone has time. my feedbacks rising, and although i've left feedback for a few (where does it show up for them as a buyer?) i've totally forgotten how to leave feedback. have i lost the plot? that wasn't the question either ;)

thats about 5 questions, but any help would be appreciated. thanks.

IMHO this is the beauty of selling on Amazon marketplace. Your items are worth what others are willing to pay. The fact that she bought it in the US for next to nothing is neither here nor there. If people are willing to pay more in the UK for whatever reason, like they don't know that they can get it cheaper in the States, then that's fair enough.

Saying that, you will often find that just because somebody is listing something at an inflated price, doesn't mean it will sell. My suggestion would be to list it at a slightly lower starting price and if no takers after a reasonable length of time, drop the price gradually until you get a taker.

I had received a book as a gift a few years ago, retailing at around a tenner, and due to it being out of print now, it was listing at around the £50 mark. I sold mine eventually (after dropping price) at £35. The £50 one is still listed. It felt a bit naughty inflating the price that much, but the buyer was happy and so was I ;)

I'm still stunned that it went past a week. When I started the thread back in July on the Old Style board I assumed that everyone sold their books on Amazon, so the thread was just to suggest the type of book to sell -weird and wacky - and I just glossed over the 'how-to' because, as I say, I though that everyone did anyway - I just put a bit in about penny books to show that if you are careful it can work.

It left the Old Style board at 18,000 views so 20,000 have been added since it arrived here on the 9th of October.
