lol another anti-declutter example. Husband tries to help, but ends up #$!$!@ing things up instead :D

:D It looks like someone blew up WH Smiths here, and husband helps - by bringing home books I've already got lol. I'm sure he's out of pocket, he bought some scales and the books ;) Now he's wittering about the mess :rotfl:

But if there's a profit it's no bad thing.....?

I should break even in about 2008 ;) and I blame you :D

CD's are the future for me :)

Does this mean that he's taking it all seriously and sees the potential for making a few bob?

I have one particular favourite charity shop for my weird and wonderful books, most are under £1.00 and they are in very good condition. In the last few weeks I have stepped up my bookselling (since I got the pro merchant subscription) and have gone all-out on the buying in. This means that I been going to the till in this shop with 6 or 7 books at a time and the subject matter is varied to say the least. There have been books on anaesthesia, physics, culture in the european union, dyslexia, stopping smoking, help for women alcoholics, teaching junior school children and global racism to mention just a few.
The staff in charity shops are all very friendly and chatty and because there is never a queue at the tills they can take their time and chat as they total up the sales, often commenting on the books - 'oooh, that looks interesting' etc.... and there are only so many times I can say that it's for a friend. So the other day when my stack of books contained a potentially embarrasing one (don't ask me what it was :o but I know it will sell) I learned a new technique. I put the books on the counter, got my fiver out, put it on the counter and just took a few steps away to look at the Christmas cards and didn't come back till they were all in the bag and the change was being counted out...result!

It's just pin money tbh apprentice tycoon, but he knows how much I love books. I've an idea what to buy and what to avoid now - like bestsellers :D

I think I mentioned earlier in the thread about my charity book buys? I feel better now that I've returned 3 box loads, but I was embarrassed that I got the good books cheap. (Still waiting to be bought though lol) But it's recycling as you said :) I just can't pass a bookshop without buying so might as well buy from them as anyone else :)

When I do get to the nearest town there's a neat little cut price shop, brand new but not many months old books. They seem to sell :D, but the profit's not huge. And if I wanted, I could always read them before selling ;)

But if I ever see any embarrassing ones .... I'll send Mr S to the counter :D
  • Ok, i know it has been mentioned here before - I've got a book pending. Should i wait the 72 hours or relist? Is there any way i can email the buyer to ask if they really want it?

BTW - I listed another 11 books last night and if the above sells it will be 2 out of those 11 gone already. This is really addictive!

    Yes, see here

  • Yes, see here

Thanks, you've just reminded me that a 'pending' needs relisting :D
  • Thanks purplepatch! Your instruction were very straight forward!
I found the transaction and i think i will pop them a polite inquiry to see if they would still like the item.
  • No probs. I find the weekends are usually when I sell most stuff so it's really annoying to get the pending thing just before. You end up having to wait 3 days to relist on Monday
