selling books on Amazon - tips for more profit

Only stumbled on this thread a few days ago
and can't believe it. Listed a load of stuff on Friday night and by today have sold 9 items.
I'm going to post office tomorrow to get them sent off, just wondering if there is anything I can do to speed up the procedure of getting proof of postage rather than waiting for them to write them all down
Also, I have a load of videos out in the garage which have sat there for yonks. What is the general consensus about videos? The ones I've looked up don't seem to go for much, is there much point?
One of the books I sold last night was for someone who coincidentally lives down the road from me so put it through their door today - hope I get some decent feedback for that one!
Thanks so much Apprentice Tycoon, first class thread :money::A0 -

I write out a COP card with addy and post code and get the PO to stamp it. then get the total receipt and staple it together. Not lost one yet!!!
Sold a couple of vids but not made much on them. Looked at the listing price of others and decided against it as they were selling at rock bottom prices. I would advise checking them all first. You could try a price higher and see if they move at all??0 -

Mah jong, sorry to be thick, but what's a COP card? I don't have any post office forms and want to take them in to post first thing tomorrow. Is it worth my while writing them down on a separate piece of paper for them to stamp??0 -
The COP is the certificate of posting, the staff will fill it in for you but I would ask to have a couple to take home so that you can fill it in at home without the queue breathing down your neck.
You asked about the videos? I think that you will have to check them all out, some may be more sought after than others and worth your bother.
I like the fact that you could hand deliver one! - nice0 -

Ooooh, yes, I've got Le Bonheur on vhs, a french film with Eric Cantona in it and that seems to be worth a few bob!:j
Will ask for a COP as suggested and try to ignore the dagger looks I'll be getting from all the old dears when I take ages at the counter tomorrow0 -
I know the local Postmaster fairly well, and he game me a whole COP pad - If you ask them nicely they might give you some too. Afterall it saves them time.0

At my local post offices they print out a receipt now at the same time as the postage label and fill in the postcode as a COP, no more filling in forms, it's really quick.0

This thread has moved on a long way since the early days about using Amazon as a means of earning pin money and is now much more of a question and answer session that really belongs on the ebay (& other auctions) board.
I'll be moving it across very shortly but will leave the redirect in place so that you can all find it easily.
Cant quite work out why this has been moved when it has been happily in its original place for 3 months, and amazon is not an auction site.
How do you get tips unless you ask questions.
I wouldnt expect something about amazon to be on the ebay board.

Glad I'm not the only one who doesn't follow the logic, afterall, all the newbies to this thread found it in it's original place. So be it, we're to share a bed with e-bay!0
