Cheap meals using a microwave, grill and hob?

Have you thought of getting a slow cooker. They can be bought fairly cheaply and can be used for so many recipes. I love getting home and having my tea ready and waiting. They do not use too much electricity and take very little to cut up ingredients for ,great time saver.

Hi Richardvc, you mention not frying too much, if this is for health reasons have you thought about getting a non stick frying pan?
I have one and you can cook most things without adding oil, I cook mince and sausages in mine without adding anything, the natural fat seeps out as you cook so keeping it moist.

Things to do on the hob -
spag bol
curry - try toasting naan's if your fed up with rice
chilli & rice
Stir fry
bangers & mash with beans
omettle
cous cous and noodles are good alternatives to rice and pasta.
