Hi
If you want to look at my monthly planner below, I only use my oven maybe once or twice a week at the most.I have a teeny kitchen and in the summer with the oven on the heat is unbearable!

Hi
This is something we have fairly often - quick, easy, fairly cheap.
8 sausages, any kind
1 tin beans
1 tin kidney beans
dash Worcestershire sauce
salt and pepper
chilli powder to taste
Fry the sausages. Put in a wide pan like a wok. Add the beans, chilli powder, Worcestershire sauce and seasoning. Cook for about 10 minutes. If it seems too dry add some water - the sauce will become thick and tasty. Meanwhile boil a pan of rice - your choice of brown, white, whatever. Serve the sausages and sauce on a bed of rice.
This amount feeds 5 - 2 adults and 3 teenagers - just add more rice if you're the greedy type!

Hi,I used to live in a flat with no oven and found it quite easy to cope without one, there are loads of things that you can cook o the hob as others have already mentioned, even now I have an oven I don't find that I use it all that much, here's a list of things that I make regulary that don't involve an oven.Steak, Parsnip Chips and peas ( Parsnip chips done in a normal cooking pot with about two incehs of oil at the bottom)chicken breasts ( pan fried) with Haggis and vegSausages, potato wedges and beans ( home made wedges done in the same way as the parsnip chips)couscous, lemon soul and sweetcornsalmon, veg, fried riceHomemade burgers, steamed veg and potatoescurry and riceVarious home made pasta dishes, taglitelle with cream mushromm sauce, bolognaise etcChilli con carne with rice and tortilla chipsAll these things ar home made and take no longer that 20 mins to get them ready and cooking with little dishes to do afterwordsA slow cooker is a good idea aswell, I was thinking of getting one for the winter. Also things like chicken nuggets etc can be cooked in a few inches of oil like chips etc, don't worry your creative juices will start flowing when once you get started.Hope this helps0

i was ovenless for a fortnight, and coped ok, although know how you feel. salads are great right now, my current faves are:
tabbouleh ( bulghar wheat, lemon juice, garlic, chopped tomatoes, fresh parsley and mint, seasoning and olive oil well mixed. the bulghar whaet is chep and juts needs soaking in boiled ater to be ready ( about 30mins) We have this with either minced lamb koftas and tsatziki or fried halloumi...yumm
chick pea fritters... blitz or mash by hand a tin of chick pea with 1 egg, herbs garlic and then form into patties and fry. nice with a pinch of chilli flakes too. serve with pitta bread
tuna and white bean salad. can of tuna, can of white beans, both drained. add to a bowl with a fnely sliced red onion or mild spanish onion. add rocket or other leaves and add lemon juice and olive oil. no cooking required!
and finally, do fajitas or nachos as the bits don't need cooking and you only need to make the mince or chicken to go in.
hope these help you.

PS Don't forget omlettes for using up leftover potatoes meat etc in fridge!

Hi mollytrundle,
We have a very recent thread on cooking without an oven that should give you lots of ideas, so I'll merged your thread with it.

What about rissottos and curries - you could heat up your naan breads in the microwave grill (I've done it) - sausages and mash, mince with potatoes and veg. Remember, most things that can be grilled can also be fried. I lived without an oven and grill for a few weeks and didn't find it that difficult.Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)

I've never used the oven for frozen pizzas. Ignoring the instructions on the box, instead I bung it in the microwave on full power for four minutes and then brown it under the grill (which has been pre-heating while the pizza is in the microwave). Frozen pizza inside of ten minutes. I must have cooked dozens of them in this way, and have never had any complaints.Eek! Someone's stolen my signature! :eek:0
