Aaaaawwww that's so sad. how dreadful must have that poor mother have felt to feel she had to go to such extremes. I think some people are just much to inconsiderate of others

i know! my boy is mildly autistic and was always a handful when shopping (until i worked out that the lights in certain shops sent him bonkers!). it always infuriated me when strangers tried to get involved when he threw tantrums, even offering him sweets !

you know the ones that move your shopping and squash it up - like yes its going to make them get there sooner - duh!

several reactions I have had to this range from jokes, sarcasm, to talking loudly and embarrassing them

(depends on how hormonal I am)

one woman once damaged my shopping so I picked it up (telling my daughter loudly how ignorant this woman was) and dumped the item behind the next customer please sign,

she asked me what I was doing
my reply was that if she wished to handle my shopping she could have it - she denied she had touched it

I just pointed out that squashing and moving my shopping was pointless as I had already placed it as best as it could go
it wasn't going to get through quicker and that if she insisted in squashing it up anymore it was going to slow down the girl and the conveyor
she kept denying it and said something about rude young people
but then someone turned around and told her loudly they had seen her move lots of my shopping and to keep her hair on
so I just looked at her with pity and said somthing like have you not got anything better to do and if she was in that much of a hurray would she like to pack my shopping (but not damage it!)

on another occasion a women started rearranging my shopping as I put the last few pieces up from trolley and without thinking I smacked her hand - whoops!

she went to the next checkout then

    Gosh! That is incredibly rude!

What gets my goat is a person who I share lifts with to college a couple of days a week. About a month ago she damaged her ankle and was unable to walk very far. She asked me to pick up library books when I went in and hand over a letter. No probs, she lives close so it wasn't like I was going out of my way. When I dropped the books in later that day, her husband abruptly opened the door, said "I'll get her to give you a ring". No phone call, and when I gave her a lift today no word of thanks. I don't expect people to be falling over themselves to say thank you, but a few manners like "Thanks for picking up the book".

Like the vast majority of people on this site I have always been brought up to say please and thank you. It is so important, and as my mum says "it costs nothing".

I hate that too. They also deliberately push their trolley into you to try to force you to move. I also hate cashiers who sit and wait for you to find your purse etc and ignore the shopping that needs packing. [glow=red,2,300]"Hello - could you just help here a bit because that person who has just squashed all my shopping is going to complain I am not packing quick enough!!!!!!!!!!!!"[/glow]

    [move]THANK YOU![/move]

just taken five bags of stuff to charity shop...not a word of thanks...in fact not a word of any kind...just grabbed stuff and shuffled off.... >:(

Thats awful before my accident in June I'd worked for 7 months in the cottage hospice charity shop and we were always grateful for every donation the people in that shop shouldn't be volunteering if they don't want to be there. Good on your for making the donation. :)

My son is borderline autistic too . He has trouble in shops , he says they are claustrophobic and also had problems with certain lights .

*sorry , gone off topic slightly*
