Any reason? Or just one of those days? They do happen from time to time. I was out at a meeting today which I had to drive to and actually had to walk through M&S to get back to my car - I managed to resist the goodies but it took clenching of teeth - somehow to me cals in the car don't count  so I had to really focus on wanting to lose that stone in two months.

    How are you feeling now??

Lisa, how are you feeling today? I've been wondering about you.
  • Hello guys, Having just spent the last few days being misrable as sin I have given myself a good talking to and here I am.

Weighed myself this morning and lost 5lb last week (the 1st week is mostly the biggest loss isnt it?)

I have been given a Slimming World Book by a really cool mate of mine and have sort of been following that since wednesday so Really if I had started it sooner I could have lost more, (i had lost a further 2lb on saturday that would have taken it to 7lb but I was naughty yesterday and cos we had been for a walk out with my daughter which had turned into her gettin soaking wet I retreated to the nearest pub while hubby ran like the clappers to get the car. It really should have been me running lol.

Anyway not a great start to the day because I have just had a Mars bar. But in my defence when I woke up this morning I was very very wobbly and shaky (sugar?) anyway I am ok now.

Hope everybody else is doing well on thier diets or healthly eating plans.

    xxxxxx

    Hi there LISA :D

Someone has just posted a link to your thread onto the "old style weight loss part 3" thread

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=740615&page=8

You should pop over and visit us.. we are a cheerfull (if somewhat a little loopy bunch).... we aren't "dieting" over there..we are all eating healthily (the minute you say the dreaded "D" word you crave things you don't really want anyway)we are all following our own way of doing things, but mainly cooking as much as possible from scratch, so its cheaper and we know what is in there ;) and so we don't have to eat seperately from the family:D

Some of use use scales to gauge our progress, some use tape measures and some go by the fit of their clothing.. and we all have varying amounts to lose..

I have done weight watchers, slimming world, slim fast -numerous times, and lipo trim  not for the feint hearted that one :rotfl: and OK i have lost weight but plonked it back on...because i never dealt with the way i was eating.. this time i have totally altered my approach... i cook everything from scratch.. don't use low fat ingredients, and eat "normal meals" just in sensible portions, nothing is banned, there are NO good/bad foods in this house... just sensible choices... and for the 1st time ever -i have to say it is a doddle :T .. i make meat pies, bread, stews, chinese, quiches etc and eat them with my hubby.. no diet food in this house :j and its a way of eating that i know i can continue for ever ;)

The original thread started in August and so far i have lost 4st 10.5lbs ... don't think i don't know what its like to be that pigged off with my size... I started at 21st  -so now im down to 16st 3.5lbs -which for a lot of folk is still  -but do you know what??? i KNOW that this time im going to make it to within my healthy weight range..so im really not embarassed to declare to you all what i weigh at the moment :rotfl:
I haven't had one week yet where i haven't lost, and i walk most days... i have just got back from a 1.5hr walk to the supermarket and back.. i go most days.. even if its just for a carton of milk ..the fresh air makes me feel great and i get grumpy if i have to miss a day... plus it burns of some of those cals ;) .. to start with i was pooped, but carried on and now i shift at quite a speed:rotfl:
I think for the first time i have found a balance between eating well and exercising enough to shift this weight without it being hard work-and i feel great:p
I hope you decide to pop over to see us... its a great thread -loads of hint, tips, recipes and most importantly of all a great bunch of folks who are always there for you to cheer you along when you are doing well and pick you up n dust you down when you are not having a great day....

    Hi Jackieb

    Thankyou...:D

Yep im feeling great, but still have a long way to go ;) ... still it took me to the age of 35 to cultivate all this excess -so if it takes a while to come off ..then i can't complain really :p ...and for the 1st time ever i don't feel like im being punished..eating plenty of lovely home cooked food, and getting plenty of fresh air and its working:j ...and not costing me a small fortune either..yippeeee:p

Feel free to come and joins us..the more the merrier :T ..there are loads of us and we have quite a laugh... having someone there every day just to chat too makes loads of difference... hope to see you over there..and anyone else who wants to join us too :D

Hya jackieb and lisa_martin, just popped over from Weight loss the old style part 3 thread too, like Mrs M (who is a legend over there, and everywhere else!!!)

I too suffered from depression a while back (mixture of postnatal and "ordinary"), it took 18 months of Prozac coupled with 2 years of counseling to pull me through the worst of it. I still have down times, but hopefully the worst is over. The baby (DS2) I had then is coming up to 15 next week (all 6 feet of him, the darling!!), so it's a while since I was really bad, but I am not complacent...I work hard at talking about my feelings either to my DH, sister or a very good friend. I found it was the bottling everything up which spiralled me deeeper into depression, so now I witter on incessantly!

As to the weight thing (I wasn't very overweight when I was depressed) I am still fighting that. Top weight
was 19 stone last year, now I am 17 11 and on my way down. I have a bad back (broke it 24 years ago) so I often end up being unable to do much exercise, but I do try. Walking is great and it helps to clear the head too. We have a dog, so she gets two or even three walks a day, depending how many of us are wanting to clear our heads!

Like Mrs M, I am doing much more cooking from scratch, I always did a bit, but have done more since DS2 was diagnosed as diabetic 2 years ago. After years of trying to get them to eat wholemeal pasta and brown rice, I have succeeded in the last 6 months, ordinary white stuff tastes really odd now!

So I recommend cooking from scratch, eating healthily and doing what exercise you can. We have an exercise bike in the sitting room, so usually at least one of us is on it in the evening when the TV is on...no couch potatoes here! The other thing is portion control, I am now eating off a smaller plate, so a smaller amount looks like lots! Some days I still feel the need for something "nice", so I have it...today I fancied chocolate, so I got a small Green & Blacks dark chocolate bar. I had a bit for lunch (my afters!) and then small bits through out the afternoon, when I stopped for a break from gardening...it was scrummy, and I really enjoyed it.

So before you fork out for slimming clubs, come over and visit us at
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=740615&page=8
it is a great laugh, and may help.

The Paul McKenna book is good...I have lost my CD...it in one of our CD cases somewhere....we have hundreds of CDs so I will have fun looking for it!

Sorry, I have rambled on quite a bit...you see I take my "cure" seriously!!

    M
